It started off with a spark inside my head
Is it traveling down old pathways
Or is it skipping tracks instead?
What I say is
These thoughts will change my mind
These thoughts will change my mind
These thoughts will change my mind
These thoughts will change my mind
Oh, tell me Lovely Lady
Can all of this be true
I can alter my existence
By being mindful of what I choose
What I say is
These thoughts will change my mind
These thoughts will change my mind
Yeah, these thoughts will change my mind
These thoughts will change my mind
Oh, thank you Carl Sagan
Jim Henson and Patrick Grim
Jay Garfield and James Burke
For telling it like it is
What I say is
These thoughts will change my mind
These thoughts will change my mind
These thoughts will change my mind
These thoughts will change my mind
These thoughts will change, change my mind
These thoughts will change my mind
These thoughts will change my mind

I think this song can be interpreted in multiple ways, but for me, this song is about an undesired breakup. It means that you just want anything and everything from the other person, you miss them so much that you can't stop thinking about them, craving for their presence, for the impossible - "all I want is all that i can't get". It then talks about feeling worthless without the other person - you feel that you no longer deserve anything more in life, that "all you've got isn't of real worth". But the chorus is all about getting through it, about needing to put those thoughts to rest before they consume you, to stop dwelling in the past, to refuse to think that way. But again, I think one reads what one wants to read, and I guess that's just what it means to me right now.

This song.. so beautiful in melody and lyrical content.. means to me that all these feelings one feels for another has to be kept secret.. it sounds like these feelings are somehow cynical, selfish almost, like he's not supposed to feel them. Putting them in the basement, meaning here are my thoughts.. don't bring them back up, I just want to let you know. sometimes thoughts are an overwhelming burden. hard to contain to only yourself even when you know you should. I like this song a lot. :-)

I am kind of getting the vibe of a bit of homosexuality, at least in the first verse. He seems to be saying that the way he feels isn't allowed. The rest is pretty clear that who ever this is to, guy or girl, they do not share the feelings

    My Interpretation

I think this song may be about depression. All he wants is to be happy and he compares himself to other people who lead happy lives and enjoy themselves, but he craves happiness and he's jealous of what others have that he doesn't.

"take these thoughts" may represent how he should take his depressing thoughts and store them away, to try and become a happier person.

And I think the ending means that if his depressing thoughts come back then "burn the whole place down" may symbolize suicide.

I don't think this track has anything to do with a relationship. Homosexual or otherwise. I thinks its along the same vein as Bowerbirds - In Our Talons. Its about how people / mankind take & take. It is the natural instinct of ours (they're heavy and they're OLD) that we need to shed because at this point of our existence, its going to lead to our ultimate self inflicted undoing. "take these thoughts..." and get rid of them, dont let that natural greed "steal your soul", because whatever you gain "isn't of real worth". And if we cant / don't evolve from this, then "just burn the whole place down."

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
