Circus Lyrics
And his smile so bright.
In his hands are the toys you gave
To fill his heart with delight.
Holding up a knife.
What you see and what you will hear
Will last you for the rest of your life.
There ain't no easy way round.
And it's sad, so sad,
All you friends gather round
'Cause the circus left town.
And his love so fine.
Stick with me and I'll ride with you
Till the end of the line.
Through the darkest night.
And when I smile I'll be thinking of you
And every little thing will be all right.
The circus left town, left town.

This is kind of a sad song. Its about Claptons boy Connor that fell from a window the day after the two of them went to a circus.

its sad that there are only 2 comments here this is one of his deeper songs about Conor and how they saw a circus the night before he died that was the last time clapton saw him
What you see and what you will hear Will last you for the rest of your life

one of the best songs on the Pilgrim album. Great acoustic guitar. and the sadness in Clapton's voice..

Clapton definitely has the emotion in this. Needless to say, the song is about his dead son.
It's somewhat similiar to Tears in Heaven but it holds the rawness of sudden loss in it (instead of looking in to the future).

Heartbreaking song. Just came up on my iPod and I logged in to confirm my worst fears. It is about his son. Rest in peace little guy.
