Galadriel Lyrics

She comes up with the morning sun
And tells me life has just begun
Oh what it is to be young
And in the early evening light
She brings me flowers from the sun
Oh what it is to be young

And if you see her you will know
She's like a shadow
Falling softly on the snow

And in the early evening light
She brings me flowers for the night
Oh what it is to be young

Galadriel is a character from Lord of the Rings. Regardless of any deliberate Tolkein refeence, I can't listen to the song without thinking of the character.

Galadriel is one of the most fascinating characters in fiction to me, and also one that's been played wonderfully by Cate Blanchett in the past. This song captures well both how eternally young and ineffably ancient the Eldar, or Elves, are. During the War of the Ring, Galadriel was many, many thousands of years old and feeling the weight of the years. You can hear that here in how airy and dreamy yet formal and stately this piece is. Absolute classic!
