@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
I know it hasn't rained in ages
And I know the rivers run dry
And I know the flowers all need water
They're all about to die
But when I'm with you
You make the rain fall
When I'm with you
I feel the sun
When I'm with you
No one else in the room
When I'm with you
They say what's buried in the winter
Is found again in spring
Well I lost you once when snow came down
And I saw what loss can bring
But when I'm with you
You make the rain fall
When I'm with you
I feel the sun
When I'm with you
No one else in the room
When I'm with you
Well I know that nothing lasts forever
And I know that everything must change
But I hope that when you wake, wherever you are
You know my love for you remains
'Cause when I'm with you
You make the rains fall
When I'm with you
I feel the water
When I'm with you
No one else in the room
When I'm with you
You feel it too
I know it hasn't rained in ages
And I know the rivers run dry
And I know the flowers all need water
They're all about to die
But when I'm with you
You make the rain fall
When I'm with you
I feel the sun
When I'm with you
No one else in the room
When I'm with you
They say what's buried in the winter
Is found again in spring
Well I lost you once when snow came down
And I saw what loss can bring
But when I'm with you
You make the rain fall
When I'm with you
I feel the sun
When I'm with you
No one else in the room
When I'm with you
Well I know that nothing lasts forever
And I know that everything must change
But I hope that when you wake, wherever you are
You know my love for you remains
'Cause when I'm with you
You make the rains fall
When I'm with you
I feel the water
When I'm with you
No one else in the room
When I'm with you
You feel it too
I know it hasn't rained in ages

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,

Amazing

Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
I love this song. I just wish I knew what it was about.
This song almost perfectly describes how I feel about/wanna say to my ex. We dated over four years, from freshman year of highschool to freshman year of college (he was two years older than I, and in the Air Force away for much of our relationship) Eventually, as I went out on my own, I had to do my own thing, find myself, the standard story, and I could not ask him to wait around for me (becuase that is unfair.) As things often turn out...things changed. I love him with all my heart, but he feels we are both too changed to be again what we were, and now we are both in new relationships. Although I still do long for his love and wish it could have turned out differently, this song to me descibes the epiphany I had - That through it all, at my core I was still the same girl he had always loved, and that i would always love him deep down. just because it ends doesnt mean love doesnt last. He may not be the one I am supposed to be with, but I will love him until the day I die.
omg....i LOVE this song. brings tearz to my eyes* boohooo...absolutely lovely.
He's leaving town to go somewhere else for a while, but comforts her saying that he'll be hers forever. He sees her sweater on her bed, realizing how perfect she is for him. But all he can think about is going out to explore the world without her, seeing what it's like to be with other girls. He has to do it, it's the only way he'll satisfy his urge and ever be content. And if she stays with him through it all, he'll end up with her because he knows that she's the best thing he'll ever have. He rationalizes all this to her and himself by saying that he'll always be the same guys she's always loved, only he'll feel a sense of completion because of his experiences. This protective rationalization is his only way of holding on to the closest thing he'll ever have to true love.
I could not put this song meaning into better words. In fact, this is exactly what I'm going through and what I just described to my boyfriend in an email. I couldn't believe that your response didn't come out of my mouth and double checked to make sure your profile wasn't mine!
However, I don't necessarily believe he needs to see what it's like to be with other girls, adventuring the world is what his heart desires.
