    My InterpretationOne of my favorite black keys songs!

    The way I understood this song is pretty special,
    The first verse always starts with "keep me" meaning - hold me back,
    restrain me and my pure evil desires, from doing bad things, keep me clean..

    The second verse always starts with the word "hold", its like the opposite -
    Hold that second, hold the picture - live the moment, forget about the Consequences - Hold the fire, and the smoke, breath it, flow with it.

    To me it seems like the song is talking about the conflict between these two needs, and how to balance them in your life.

    That's where the third verse comes and talks about this, maybe it means what he actually wants - to show the trust and love and open up to me.
    I don't know if the song is about the person itself or about someone else, but regardless, the way I understand it - showing love, and honesty and "your soul" cannot be done without finding the right balance first.

    This is an awesome song, there is no chorus, or maybe just choruses.
    Anyway, it's an awesome song :)

    General Commentone of my fav BK songs if not my fav, hard to choose. I listened to this song a lot right after my daughter was born and it always reminds me of her. One of my fav memories as a new dad is listening to this song while rocking her and she just stares back up at me. Every parents goal is to keep their childrens souls away from harm.
