I see this as a guy who's suddenly gotten a self esteem boost, it so happens to be at the end crossroads of an ending relationship. I get the sense that maybe he got walked on alot or didn't assert himself. I dunno why, I just sort of get the feeling that he's suddenly feeling like a winner (or a big star.)
