Didn't my Lord deliver Daniel?
Deliver Daniel, deliver Daniel?
Didn't my Lord deliver Daniel?
And why not every man?

He delivered Daniel from the lion's den
And Jonah from the belly of the whale
And the Hebrew children from the fiery furnace
Why not every man?

Didn't my Lord deliver Daniel?
Deliver Daniel, deliver Daniel?
Didn't my Lord deliver Daniel?
And why not every man?

The moon runs down in a purple stream
And the sun refused to shine
And every star did disappear
Yes, freedom shall be mine

Didn't my Lord deliver Daniel?
Deliver Daniel, deliver Daniel?
Didn't my Lord deliver Daniel?
And why not every man?

Didn't my Lord deliver Daniel?
Deliver Daniel, deliver Daniel?
Didn't my Lord deliver Daniel?
And why not every man?

Song MeaningIt's like the religious ramblings of a man imprisoned- 'oh God saved Daniel and Jonah from their fates, he will save me too, of course he will'.

Alternatively it may be just a man looking at the mess of the world and wondering why, if God was bothered enough to save Daniel, why he shouldn't save everyone on Earth as well.

My InterpretationIt's the longing of a person who knows they need a saviour - to be delivered from oppression, from the pains and difficulties of everyday life, from their own failures and shortcomings ... The longing for every man to be saved - knowing that God loves us so much He chose to give His own Son to save us, because He wants to save every man. (John 3:16) It's the wrestling with the reality that despite of this not every man is saved.
"If my Lord delivered these men - from impossible situations and "sure death" - why not every man?!" (Comp. Daniel 6, Jonah 2, Daniel 3)

It's also faith in the God who did these things. "Even if the sun disappears and the stars will no longer shine, He will deliver me!"

It's the assurance of knowing that having accepted the Gospel, this person has "crossed the Jordan" into the "promised land" Canaan (Joshua 1-5) and nobody can take this from them.
