Murderer
Man of fire

Murderer
I've seen the eyes of living dead
It's the same game, survival
The great mass play a waiting game
Embalmed, crippled, dying in fear of pain
All sense of freedom gone

Black sun in a white world
Like having a black sun in a white world

I have a son
His name is Eden
It's his birthright
Beyond estranged time

Give me 69 years
Another season in this hell
It's all sex and death as far as eyes can tell

Like Prometheus we are bound
Chained to this rock of a brave new world
Our godforsaken lot
And I feel that's all we've ever needed to know
'Til worlds end and the seas run cold

Give me 69 years
Another season in this hell
There is sex and death
In mother nature's plans

Like Prometheus we are bound
Chained to this rock of a brave new world
Our godforsaken lot

Prometheus - the Titan who stole fire from the Gods and gave it to humans. His punishment was to be chained to a rock and have his liver eaten by an eagle... and it would grow back and be eaten again every day thereafter. The cycle of life, death, and life again. No matter how good our intentions, there is always a battle between good and evil, life and death. God - and mother nature - created a cyclical pattern in which we exist. God created Eden for Adam and Eve... and what happened? Same thing that happens to us all... innocence and freedom gone due to our greed, envy, etc... and paradise was ruined forever. Look at us now, overrun by filth, evil, hatred, greed, envy... overrun by the seven deadly sins. It's all just sex and death now. We're just a pathetic god-forsaken lot, aren't we? And eventually - probably sooner than later, mother nature and God will just determine that we're beyond redemption and the cycle will end for us. Our world will end, and it will begin anew... once again a white world (pure) without the stain (evil).

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
