Falling from the sky and I have lost all track of time
Every image of my life flashes before my eyes
Floating deep precise time of eye of my demise
My said prayers of circumstance
Have recently expired

I pray in spite
My soul my life

Straining every muscle for my contact with fate
I could never dream my life would end this way
Cross my heart and hope to die
Fade to the black
Brace myself the time is now
The moment of impact

I pray in spite
My soul my life

My cross (I pray)
Will Hide (in spite)
I pray (my cross)
In spite
My fears of impending doom that I'm about to die

Brace for the shock
The trauma
Brace myself for the impact
Brace for the shock
The trauma
Brace myself for the impact

I can hardly breathe
I can hardly breathe
Cause I am choking on this deadly scream

Brace for the shock
The trauma
Brace myself for the impact

    Song Meaning

Another awesome song by Fear Factory! It describes the idea of coming face to face with a situation where you know you could die, or, if you believe, know this could be the moment you live for the first time. As always with Fear Factory, this song touchs base with personal and religous notions of belief vs. disbelief and fear vs. preserverence in times of uncertainty.

This song is very powerfull in the sense that its meaning is very clear and that meaning is that one who believes can still doubt and one who doubts can still believe. The hope and fight inside of us to make it out alive during the "Moment Of Impact". The choice to live or die in that moment is ours. Thats what I believe personally. Very Powerfull!

    Makes a great workout song!

What i read somewhere is its about simulating being in a crashing plane(sadly) or a crashing car (as shown in the video) so yeah its basically about dieing. Im surprised this album wasnt also considered death metal for songs like this lol.

Well... I hope it means something else, but it seems like its about dying and thats the end of it. No afterlife. All beliefs of religion, haven, hell, or whatever are nothing and you just "fade to the black." Lines like The shock, the trauma, pray in spite.....etc kind of explain it a little. I'm probably wrong but thats what came to mind after listening.

Either that or its just about getting your ass kicked by something or someone. lol.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
