Wasting doubt dwelled in me
Life slipped by wasted teens
Feeling small as I look around
Why can't I cleanse myself?

Fall in, face it, feel it, pray
Weighted what you wanted me to be

Every god lives in me
One who wallows in vain
Are you real?
Do you feel?
Pain

Twirling leech, spinning down below
Wishing for the song to write
Leer at me, I can't see
Am I wrong to be?

(Go)
Fall in, face it, feel it, pray
Weighted what you wanted me to be

Every god lives in me
One who wallows in vain
Are you real?
Do you feel?
Pain

Every god lives in me
One who wallows in vain
Are you real?
Do you feel?
Pain

Here's some info i found on a webite Quote "d For those of you who are fans of 5 Alice in Chains demo songs that have shown up on bootlegs sometimes called Tasty White Powder, 1989 Demo Tape or Alice in Chains: Unchained Rarities, I have some news for you. The 5 demo tracks known as Distance Aside, Foolish, Blue, We've Come and Look were not written or recorded by Alice in Chains. These songs are from a demo tape released in 1993 by another Seattle band called Thread. By the way, I'm Scott and I was the co-founder and guitarist of Thread. We played the local Seattle music scene from 1993-1996. We reached a medium level of local popularity playing regular live shows around Seattle. We released a 5 song demo tape in 1993 and eventually 2 full length albums over the following two years. Early on we were big fans of Alice in Chains and our songs showed it, especially our first demo tape. We threw together the recordings for that tape using my 4-track and quite a lot of borrowed gear. It featured 5 songs from our live set called Distance Aside, The Fool, Aviary Garlands, What We Are and Look at Me. We used to dub copies of the tape ourselves and sell them at our shows for $5. You can imagine my surprise when I learned that for almost the last 10 years our 5 songs from that tape have been sold and traded as early AiC recordings. In March 2006 I received an email from John, who runs a long running AiC site, informing me of this misattribution. I did some web searches and was amazed to find just how far our little songs had traveled. It was surreal to find my guitar parts transcribed, our lyrics posted (albeit not accurately) and discussion board conversions about the tunes. It's flattering to know that our songs have been mistaken for a band like Alice in Chains, but I also feel that credit should be given where it's due. So to help set the record straight, I created this site. I do have digitally re-mastered versions of our recordings, including the demo tape (see our discography below). I'm curious to know how much interest there is in purchasing our recordings. Please drop me a line and let me know your thoughts"

I remember hearing this old piece of music, and thinking to myself if it was even really Alice. It really is, back in that "Chained To The Studio" era.

This song is actually called Aviary Glands and comes from the demo of a band called Thread. As of now, there are two hits on google for "aviary glands;" there was pretty much no information on the interweb about this song other than it being listed on various lyrics sites.

This is by a Seattle band called Thread, off of a five-song demo that circulated online and was mislabeled as being by Alice In Chains. This song is actually called Aviary Garlands, and where you have "every god lives in me" in the lyrics it is ACTUALLY saying "aviary garlands in me." i have 4 of the 5 songs from their demo thought to be Alice In Chains (the others are Distance Aside, The Fool (Foolish), and What We Are (We've Become)

All mystery is solved. I found Thread's website. They sell their stuff, and they've made a few albums since these songs. Cool band but jesus, try googling "thread". It's a miracle I found em.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.

Trouble Breathing
Alkaline Trio
While the obvious connections with suicide or alcoholism could be drawn easily, more subtly this song could be about someone who views the world through a negative lens constantly and how as much as the writer tries to show the beauty in the world, this person refuses to see it. It's one or another between the rope and the bottle. There is no good option for this person. They can't see it. Skiba sings it in a kind of exasperated way like He's tired of hearing this negative view constantly and just allowing that person to continue feeling the way they feel knowing he can't do anything about it. You can hear it when he says maybe you're a vampire.

Somewhere Only We Know
Keane
Per the FAQ on Keane's website, Keane's drummer Richard Hughes, stated the following: "We've been asked whether "Somewhere Only We Know" is about a specific place, and Tim has been saying that, for him, or us as individuals, it might be about a geographical space, or a feeling; it can mean something individual to each person, and they can interpret it to a memory of theirs... It's perhaps more of a theme rather than a specific message... Feelings that may be universal, without necessarily being totally specific to us, or a place, or a time..." With the nostalgic sentiment and the overall tone of the song, I think Keane is attempting to express a Portuguese term known as 'saudade', which does not have a direct English translation but roughly means "that which we remember because it is gone."
