For today, we will take their body parts
And put them on the wall

For treated indigenously, digenously
Human right is private blue chip, pry
For treated indigenously (we're the prophetic generation)
Digenously (of bottled water, bottled water)
Human right is private blue chip, pry (causing poor populations to die)

You, you went beyond and you lost it all
Why did you go there?
From beyond, you saw it all
Why did you?

For treated indigenously, digenously (we lost consumer confidence)
Human right is private blue chip, pry (We lost consumer confidence in casual karma)
(Confetti, camouflage, camouflage, the flage, the flage)

For treated indigenously, digenously (We're the prophetic generation)
Human right is private blue chip, pry (of bottled water, bottled water)
(Causing poor populations to die, to die, to die)

You, you went beyond and you lost it all
Why did you go there?
From beyond, you saw it all
Why did you go there?

She lost her mind
Someone kicked her into the back of the line
She lost her head
When they called and said that they thought he was dead
Dreaming of screaming
Someone kick me out of my mind, I hate these thoughts I can't deny
Dreaming of screaming
Someone kick me out of my mind, I hate these thoughts I can't deny

For treated indigenously, digenously we lost consumer confidence
Human right is private blue chip, pry (in casual karma, casual karma))
For treated indigenously, digenously (Confetti, camouflage)
(We're the prophetic generation of bottled water, bottled water)
Human right is private blue chip, pry (camouflage, the flage, the flage))
(Causing poor populations to die, to die, to die)

You, you went beyond and you lost it all
Why did you go there
From beyond, you saw it all
Why did you?

Na-na-na, na-na-na
Na-na, na-na, na-na-na
Ah, ah, ah-ah

Dreamin' of screamin'
Someone kick me out of my mind
I hate these thoughts I can't deny
Dreamin' of screamin'
Someone kick me out of my mind
I hate these thoughts I can't deny

You will take the body parts and put them on the wall
And bring the dark disaster

    Ahem. lets begin.

First of all, on most system songs in my opinion you must listen to the WAY the song is sung and presented as well as the lyrics.

"For today we will take the body parts and put them on the wall"

Reference to how the great wall of china was built, Countless deaths from an oppressive government simply to build a wall... they had so many dead and considered by the current dynasty "unworthy" that they buried them in the wall itself, signifying that it was not only their lifes work, but they themselves as human beings were reduced to that meaning and value, the wall which protects the nation from something they never needed protection from in that way, IE metaphor to an american soldier currently.

"For treated indigenously, digenously Human right is private blue chip, pry"

Indigenously is an adjective that at its very base describes whatever comes after as a property. Humans and indegenous to earth. this line says that human right is indegenously PRIVATE, the sentence in a very artistic way claims the "blue chip" (read about verichip) will pry our proprietary rights away.

"We're the prophetic generation of bottled water, bottled water Causing poor populations to die, to die, to die"

Expression of escapism and its effect on the general social stratosphere. Bottled water represents something that is natural and usually free, presented in a different way and environment by people who want to profit off of it, and how we let it be served to us and accept it and PAY for it. We are making the natural unnatural, it is being pushed on us and we accept it, we are so busy with our own little world we barely notice the manipulation, we can have DRINKABLE water that dosent need to be bottled, it should be one of our indegenous rights... however that is not the case, the most drinkable incur's a fee.

(For treated indigenously, digenously) (Human right is private blue chip, pry)

"You, you went beyond and you lost it all Why did you go there From beyond you saw it all why did you"

You (public) are allowing/doing things that you KNOW will cause calamity in a social environment, yet you let it happen anyway, like the soldier who decides to fight in a war he dosen't believe in just because he sees it as the quickest way for him to have a comfortable life (ties into the escapism as well).

"We lost consumer confidence in casual karma, casual karma Confetti, camouflage, camouflage, the flage, the flage"

Everytime the government is beggining to be analyzed a bit too much, and reprucussions for their actions begin to surface... just when we begin to prosecute for the CRIME and FELONY of invasion of privacy in which the CIA is guilty of COUNTLESS times in OUR OWN country to citizens that are INNOCENT and done when they have NO WARRENT.... a war breaks out. (For treated indigenously, digenously) (Human right is private blue chip, pry)

We're the prophetic generation of bottled water, bottled water Causing poor populations to die, to die, to die

(For treated indigenously, digenously) (Human right is private blue chip, pry)

You, you went beyond and you lost it all Why did you go there From beyond you saw it all why did you go there

"She lost her mind Someone kicked her into the back of the line

She lost her head When they called and they said that they thought he was dead"

Describing ficticious girl that lost her soldier boyfriend to the war, our great wall, our escuseless source of death. Its in the song to display the consequences of his actions... and to display that soldiers aren't unnamed faces that die, just because you don't know someone dosent mean they aren't alot like you, theya re someones father, someones uncle, someones brother, someones sister, someones boyfriend someones girlfriend, someones child... They are you, They are me, and they are dying MOSTLY for vain and useless reasons... for rich spoiled politicians, for the corrupt... for the heartless, for the illogical moral vacuum that is quickly consuming this nation... Something like this happened to rome before it fell too.

"Dreaming of screaming Someone kick me out of my mind I hate these thoughts I can't deny Dreaming of screaming Someone kick me out of my mind I hate these thoughts I can't de--"

This one strikes home with me... day in and day out all these thoughts and more that are in this very song strike me... strike through me, I feel it, I watch calamity and hopelessness spread like a voracious social cancer... and it seems no matter what I do to fight it everyday in my small 24 hours... its more like watching it happen, your words are ignored by everyones ears and after a while... you simply do not want to think it anymore... you want to escape, like everyone else has been trying to.

"We lost consumer confidence in casual karma, casual karma Confetti, camouflage, camouflage, the flage, the flage (For treated indigenously, digenously) (Human right is private blue chip, pry)

We're the prophetic generation of bottled water, bottled water Causing poor populations to die, to die, to die

(For treated indigenously, digenously) (Human right is private blue chip, pry)

You, you went beyond and you lost it all Why did you go there From beyond you saw it all why did you

Dreaming of screaming Someone kick me out of my mind I hate these thoughts I can't deny

Dreaming of screaming Someone kick me out of my mind I hate these thoughts I can't deny

You will take the body parts and put them up on the wall And bring the

    "dark disaster"

The end, of civilization maybe, a dark age? the end of the world? the end of man-kind? Its the fault of both who work on the wall and those who let be commanded to bury their own in the wall... there is no pride in this, there is no honor.

War is nothing but murder in disguise of vain and disgusting rightiousness.

This is what these lyrics mean to me, thats what they speak to me... just thought id share....

its why system is one of my most loved bands.

    My Interpretation

I was listening to this scene came to mind: Its about a girl whose close one is in a war or other place of danger, and she is informed that that person close to her died, but this information was false. Then she finds out that he is okay but she cannot get rid of these "dreams" about him gone...

Beyond - vision.. She lost her head, when they called and they said that they thought he was dead.... Dreaming of Screaming.. Someone kick me out of my mind, I hate these thoughts I cant deny...

For the line about we are a society of Bottled water, Causing poor populations to die, to die, to die, it means that while we are drinking clean, pure evian, we are doing it at the cost of millions of others dying because they cannot get clean water and get nourished. Also the verse that is : She lost her mind Someone kicked her into the back of the line she lost her head When they called and said that they thought he was dead" Is about a mother, wife, sister, etc. going crazy after finding out that her son, husband has died. She dreamt of screaming, or doing something about it, but she couldn't because she is not being heard. Maybe because she is oppressed and "pushed to the back of the line", meaning she is not important so they keep telling her they will help her, yet she keeps being put behind. The US does this to alot of people in other countries, and even right here, they promise something, but when its time to deliver, they leave you for last.

maybe it is about the loss of a loved one. ''dreaming of screaming'' maybe being at the place when the loved one was murdered. and the haunting memories bring back the pictures in his head ''I hate these thoughts I can't deny'' and that says that he cant deny that they are gone.

also, could be about war. ''For today we will take the body parts and put them on the wall'' saying all the people that die in war. they cant deny that there family member/partner is not coming back.

The bottled water line is metaphoric. It's not just about water. We're a generation of bottled water means, that we suck all the light, energy, life-force from the poor nations in order to purify on us. We wash ourselves this these countries in order to come out pure. It's true in some sense, the United States consumes most of the world's resources. It IS about selfishness as Natasha said...In actuality, I agree with all of you. Good stuff.

i agree with all your posts about our selfishness and apathy for the poor. the dreaming of screaming part i believe is like what kmk said about how he's having trouble coping with knowing that mankind is so uncaring. ooarakhhye's post about how we do try to purify ourselves by removng all the unwanted parts of society like poverty and leaching off other countries. gonzo ur right on about the digitalization of america. with each new technology we become more and more useless as human beings.

The only thing i dont like about this song is the beginning, because it starts out with Serj doing his only horrible voice ive ever heard on a track, but after the double voices come in its kickass. I think its called dreaming because its the only sacred thing we have left that hasnt been fucked dry by the government, and we should cherish the thoughts we have, for they are all our own

Good song. But buying "bottled water" does not cause poor people to die. If we did not buy luxuries then there would be no economy. there will always be poor people. This song seems pretty straightforward. Talking about how the world goes beyond its moral values and stretched itself to thin or wrongly by trying to help others and trying to keep luxuries

I can't believe this song has not gotten much recognition. It's one of the most enlightened songs released today. It seems like "Dreaming" is about a lot of society's main faults fused into one song.

"You, you went beyond and you lost it all. Why did you go there? From beyond, you saw it all. Why did you go there?"

To me, it almost sounds like Serj and Daron are singing in despair to a dead soldier, asking him why he went to fight in a war when he saw from a distance what happens in wars, and who, in the end, benefits. It's almost like they are crying these lines to dead soldiers everywhere. Not just for the US, but for every country that has casualities resting on their shoulders.

"Dreaming of screaming Someone kick me out of my mind I hate these thoughts I can't deny"

Enlightenment comes with a lot of benefits and costs. If you are of the few that think outside the boundaries of society, you are rather enlightened. You "think outside the box made for you". However, you are burdened all in one because you are unable to fix these problems as they lie right in front of you. You're overcome with frustration as everything the world has to offer you comes surging through your neurons. "Dreaming of screaming" shows frustration at a high degree. "Someone kick me out of my mind, I hate these thoughts I can't deny" shows someone who doesn't want to be knowledgeable of all the things most people are unaware abou because of the power of this knowledge. It's almost like a burden.

"Dreaming" has got to be one of my all-time favorite System songs.

I am not literally saying that buying bottled water causes people to die, but i am commenting on the luxuries that we have that we take for granted and about the fact that others are dying just trying to get nourished. And we dont have to buy luxuries to make an economy work, what you are thinking about is capitalism.

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
