who i am
retort to toiletmouth
now louder answer
the firmest fist and kiss its
asked me again
how gameshow season never ends
the same old reason i won't win
suspended in this animation
i could use a new vacation
namelessly the nameless and the faceless go to make up

tell me i'm not spending too much time on happy endings
and my life does not rely on how much love you might be lending me
above there's so much i'm depending on remembering more instead
you send me door to door to have the family cat attack the stranger
back by popular demand
stand as you were
before you saw your parting gift in stores
you poured your empty heart in it but finished what you started
when you practiced and rehearsed
to find the god before he finds you first
in dirty words and poison dreams
like girls who flirt while boys are teens
you're only asking for one thing
it's never only make believe to me

tell me i'm not spending too much time on happy endings
and my life does not rely on how much love you might be lending me
above there's so much i'm depending on remembering more instead of
war with me, myself, and i
i'm headed for the stranger in the sky
resort in paradise
now louder answer
the wish and kiss is good

I have NO idea what this song means... Constantly trying to figure it out though. My favorite line is "tell me i'm not spending too much time on happy endings and my life does not rely on how much love you might be lending me"

    aaahhhh it's awesome

i believe its about belief in god. stranger in the sky. its about someone who believes in something, but can't quite get their fingers around it.

I always thought it was about abuse. Stranger in the sky, the victim was eventually beat to the point of death and the abuser never knew them inside and all they felt, "tell me i'm not spending too much time on happy endings and my life does not rely on how much love you might be lending me", hence, stranger in the sky.

the first time i heard this, my heart felt completely weird. like numb but in a completely good way. now everytime i get depressed and listen to this song, i dont feel anything, because its so numbing.

the other night i broke off this friendship with someone who i had wanted to be with for a long time, and i was listening to this song as i was lying in bed trying to sleep, and right when my stereo turned itself off on sleep, i started crying and i couldn't stop, because it hurt so bad.

i can relate to the "tell me im not spending too much time on happy endings, that my life does not rely on how much love you might be lending me above this, so much im depending on remembering more instead"

i do rely on how much he loves me, and i really shouldn't. but i do, and i regret that but i really dont want to change it. just as im sure jason doesnt

It reminds me of Radiohead. I love this line:to find the god before he finds you first.

    My Interpretation

The song is about suicide and what leads up to someone taking their life.

    Resort in paradise.....RIP

find a god before he finds to first.

The subject does not believe he is loved, and that he is a loser at everything.

    My Interpretation

i strongly believe this song is about suicide "find a god before he finds you first" its like he's gonna kill himself before god kills him or "war with me myself and i, im headed for the stranger in the sky" it's like the subject hates himself for some reason (the reason could be love according to other lines from this song) and he's in a constant war with himself which causes him to decide to end his life or as he says head for the stranger in the sky (god).

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
