Funeral for a Friend (Love Lies Bleeding) Lyrics

Actually this is Love Lies Bleeding but it really doesn't matter since they should both be played together

They were written seperately...... elton wrote the instrumental Funeral for a Friend, Gus Dudgeon decided that they should blend together, and guitarist Johnstone wrote a quick bridge riff that tied the two together perfectly....... it wasn't planned at all. Dudgeon laid out the synth intro in an all-nighter on a Korg mini-moog synth to lead into elton's piano.
Hi toolow, I thought the synth was an ARP, not a moog?

[Part I: Funeral for a Friend]
[Instrumental]
[Part II: Love Lies Bleeding]
[Verse 1] The roses in the window box have tilted to one side Everything about this house was born to grow and die Oh, it doesn't seem a year ago to this very day You said, "I'm sorry, honey, if I don't change the pace I can't face another day"
[Chorus] And love lies bleedin' in my hands Oh, it kills me to think of you with another man I was playin' rock and roll, and you were just a fan But my guitar couldn't hold you, so I split the band Love lies bleedin' in my hands
[Verse 2] I wonder if those changes have left a scar on you Like all the burnin' hoops of fire that you and I passed through You're a bluebird on a telegraph line, I hope you're happy now Well, if the wind of change comes down your way, girl You'll make it back somehow
[Chorus] And love lies bleedin' in my hands Oh, it kills me to think of you with another man I was playin' rock and roll, and you were just a fan But my guitar couldn't hold you, so I split the band Love lies bleedin' in my hands
[Instrumental Break 07:52-09:08] [Guitar Solo]
[Chorus] And love lies bleedin' in my hands Oh, it kills me to think of you with another man I was playin' rock and roll, and you were just a fan But my guitar couldn't hold you, so I split the band Love lies bleedin' in my hands
[Outro] Oh! Oh! Oh, oh, oh, oh Love lies bleedin' in my hands Ooh-hoo! Ooh-hoo! Ooh-hoo! Ooh-hoo! Ooh-hoo! Ooh-hoo! Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh! Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!
[Edit: fixed error]

I really prefer these two songs be together.

This is a great song from one of the best albums ever produced. I do believe that it is 'too close for comfort' to the funeral music at the beginning of Dr Zhivago. Take a listen to it and see.

Such a great classic! I have no idea what it means but I love it!
It is a tribute somebody he lost. The music is the kind of music some would play at a funeral. This time we don't have to thank Bernie!!!! Elton wrote it. Except it wouldn't be as great of a song if it weren't put with Love Lies Bleeding....

It's obviously about Elton and John Lennon's violent love affair and Lennon going back into the closet as Elton was coming out.

Missing Guy Babylon? I'm still missing Dee Murray. RIP, bass guitar master.

What an amazing song.....wow! Have you ever heard this song live....it is amazing! Guy Babylon...oh how we will miss him, now we at least have Kim! But Guy will never be beat....RIP
