Your face is beaming
You say it's 'cause you're dreaming
Of how good it's going to be
You say you've been around
And now you've finally found
Everything you wanted and needed in me

I don't have the heart to hurt you
It's the last thing I want to do
But I don't have the heart to love you
Not the way you want me to

Inside I'm dying
To see you crying
How can I make you understand
I care about you
So much about you, baby
I'm trying to say this as gently as I can

'Cause I don't have the heart to hurt you
It's the last thing I want to do
But I don't have the heart to love you
Not the way you want me to

You're so trusting and open
Hoping that love will start
But I don't have the heart, oh, no
I don't have the heart

I don't have the heart to hurt you
It's the last thing I want to do
But I don't have the heart to love you
Not the way that you want me to

I don't have the heart (Oh)
(Baby, I don't have the heart, I don't have the heart)
I don't have the heart (Oh)
(Baby, I don't have)

I don't have the heart
I don't have the heart
I don't have the heart

It is about a man not wanting to hurt a woman. He loves her but is not in love with her anymore. He cares about her but not like he use to.

I think its about a man who has been going out with a wonderful woman. He knows she is falling in love with him and he loves her back but his heart is broken from another relationship and he just can't get over that heart break. He wants to love her and be her one and only but he knows in his heart of hearts he just can't love her the way he knows she deserves. He doesn't want to hurt her but he realizes he can't love her the way she deserves to be loved because his heart is broken and he just cant mend it. Its sad cause deep inside he knows she's special but his broken heart just won't let him love her the way she wants to be and needs to be loved.

Lyrics are obvious. Good song! What's hilarious is that at the same time his "friends" are listening to Summer of '69. Two out of three ain't bad for a weekend;) A song about goodbyes....counting down the days. Thanks for sharing that sentiment heart of yours, emmanluartes

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
