Piece of Wood Lyrics
Cut from something living
Touch me I don't feel to good
I'm cold but I'm not shivering
Cut from something Squirming
Pinned to the earth I twist and turn
For soil and roots I'm yearning
Some angel's placed in cotton
And the syphalactic doctor says he'll make it fit
But all his learning he's forgotten

this is indeed a most brillaint song, i love the plucking guitar so much

eek! no one wrote about the meaning. its about being disconnected. yuh?

this song really gets to me... at some point all of these things come apart... i'm not sure about the fingertip but i know that wood and worms are always coming apart, its a part of life. but... thats all he is, hes nothing epic. hes going to have to go at this on his own... i think thats why the docter has forgotten... is like, when you feel like you really need something to support you, it goes away... making you cold... alone cold.

I think the fingertip part means he's disconnected, and even if he were reconnected, he'll always be disconnected. Maybe you have the whole finger back, but is it really the same as before? Or does it still feel? Hence the doctor being wrong. It's not going to fit back in. He is not going to fit back in.

btw, i can't find a definition for "syphalactic" so im kinda thinking he made it up himself.
i really have no idea what he means by it though.
