here's my interpretation of the song in good detail..but first, to those illiterate people out there (it's not your fault the govt keeps you dumb because your ignorance and stupidity gives them power, control, and money) deify means to make something god-like or to idolize something..now that we're clear we can move on

Woman: Thats What I believe got him re-elected, is the people knew you could believe what he says. - political leaders often are not to be trusted..they lie and cheat their way to the top..it might not always be true yet it is so in the majority..this is because we let them by not asking them to stop beating around the point and tell us why the hell we should put them in control

Man: well thats your repressive government - our govt might say we're free but it represses us in subtle ways, such as racism which separates us, demeans us, and causes an increase in crime; prop 8 is a way to repress homosexuals and is frankly an unconstitutional law that shouldn't have made it through b/c it limits the rights of homosexuals and combines religion and govt. which are supposed to remain separate

George Bush: Our Government is strong, we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world - Bush says this but it is not true..if we did all this then why are our hands dirty from the armenian genocide where we helped massacre the armenians in WWI or from putting the japanese into concentration camps in WWII

All my devotions betrayed - all our mindless cheering for america has been in vain and is pointless I am no longer afraid - he's not afraid anymore as most people are I was too blinded to see how much you've stolen from me - he couldn't really see the things the govt stole from him, as is the problem of many, beccause the govt gives us things such as tv which numbs and blinds the masses

You want to know why I feel so horrified? I've let my innocence die - he's disposed of his original mind and allowed the govt to mold it into what they deem is perfect You want to know why I can't be pacified? You made me bury something - he's been forced to give up something of value, such as common sense and human feeling I won't be sleeping tonight - he wont remain or retun to his stupor that the govt has been keeping the masses in

I only wanted a blessing made Now I've been labeled a renegade - all he wanted was reform yet now he's been labeled as a renegade or outlawed rebel It seems so clear now what I must do - he sees what he must do to cause this reform and kick out the govt or govt official You're no immortal I won't let them Deify you - the govt or govt official isn't anything special and has no right to be worshipped as a god They view you as the new messiah - the blinded masses see the govt or govt official as a messiah or messenger of god that spreads the word of god even though the govt or govt official clearly isn't Deify you Renew belief in some demented man - he says this mainly because bush is the primary target of this song..people renewed their belief that a demented man like bush could do good and turn around at his reelection

You want to know why it seems the passion's died? We've all been living this lie - he says this because we've been drifting away from what has made us human..humans are the only animals on earth to be born with genuine feelings such as love, hate, sadness, happiness, etc. and our modern world is pushing this from us..t.v. actually numbs us because we are constantly surrounded with stories that tell us everything, thus eliminating the need for thought, and satisfy our need for certain primal instincts, such as love stories and horror movies..t.v. distances humans from feeling things because people spend all their emotions on these exaggerated forms of life so we no longer have feelings for things less fantastical than what we're shown on t.v. You want to know why my will's been fortified? - why is he fighting now? You've made me hunger again - the previous ways the govt kept us sedated aren't working anymore and now he needs to exert his emotions and apply them to a worthy cause such as this Good luck sleeping tonight - he wont let the govt or govt officials rest until he has taken care of them, whether removing them or reforming them

all in all, this song basically says this: i see through your smoke and mirrors and i wont put up with this any more..it is directed at bush, i'll give it that much, but it's only using bush as an example..this isn't a song for just bush, but instead for every corrupt politician out there
