Dreams they can come true, it’s up to you
If you want it bad enough, but there are few
That will ever succeed inside this industry
It might be corrupt but you can’t give up
Push yourself harder than before There’s times when I just wanna walk out the door
And quit everything I’ve done, every thing I was
Even though it’s not everything that I thought it would be

Yeah, Come on!
What’s next is the question I ask myself
Come on!
What’s next is the question I ask my…self

So now I ask myself what’s next? What’s left?
What else do I gotta do to make my dreams come true?
I really didn’t think that it would be this hard
And then I think to myself that it’s only just begun
Reality steps in and it’s got me guessing
One thing out of this
Is I’ve learned many lessons
Someone please go and point me in the right direction
How much longer do I have to wait is my question?

Yeah, Come on!
What’s next is the question I ask my
Self, Come on!
What’s next is the question I ask my…self

We're gonna get primal!!!!

its about his experiences as a musician, and how much it takes to make it. he is asking if this is what he has had to do to get this far, what is next?

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
