Children of December Lyrics
'Cause their birthdays are the hardest to remember
When you're born on Christmas or the day before New Year's
They can sing out your birthday, but but but nobody hears
It was as hot as an oven
Families that were lovin each other in November
By April were planning all the new family members, but
The hots wheels the autobots and the decepticons
Everyone's waiting to see what he's worth
But he is invincible like a breeze on the earth
In my hands so tightly
I was afraid to let it go
I was afraid to even know
I was holding something
In my heart so tightly
I was afraid to let it go
And no one remembers
Well the 90s have ended
So what do you call this decade
I defend the ones I love to whatever the end is
And that's why I take it to you through the music
'Cause when the music's connected it's like everyone's protected
And February is for Tim
We all know about him
March is for my mama still winin' and dinin'
And April is for my my my my pop
May give the drummer some
June is for the bass
Mine's July July July July July
When you're born on Christmas
Or the day after New Year's
They can sing out your birthday but but but but but but but
Make a little noise
Oh, won't you make a little sound
And it's hard to remember
Well the 90s have ended
So what do you call this decade

Mmm my favourite Slip song. Not sure what the lyrics are exactly during the "March is for my mama...".

I couldn't say exactly what this is about, other than what I see as the obvious...that birthdays around such times as now, with Christmas and New Years, they get overlooked, and when people say happy birthday, it's as if its a half-assed one. Definitely a favorite of mine, check out the video compiled by Zack Smith on theslip.com, its a fun video witha great version of the song behind it.
I've understood the lyrics as "March is for my mama still winin' and dinin'..." but I dunno. I don't know if Brad would be calling his mom a dyke tho, haha.

i think it's "drummer", not "jonas".

I think this song is about how we can easily forget about people except for special occasions. But more... I think the lyrics just go with the kickass song. Also, I hear "They sing "Happy Birthday"' not, "They sing out your birthday".
But anyway, great band.. great song.

I don't think it's winin' and dinin' I think it's writin' in Dighton

Lyrics correction - it's "Decepticons" not "-gons."

no its deceptigons. its funny my dad's birthday is christmas and his bestfriends is the day before new years.

Actually, it is deceptacons, the opposing army of the autobots in transformers. And it think SidewalkAnnie is write about "writin' in Dighton" considering Dighton is a town in Massachusettes, and the band is from Boston.

actually, it's deceptigons. it's what the lyric is in the song. go and listen to it; it's clearly a "G".
good song

Yeah, mostly everyone's corrections have been right:
- It's decepticons (i don't even think deceptigons is anything... ) they were the autobots enemies so it makes perfect sense, no matter what he sounds like saying
- I'm pretty sure it is winin' and dinin' because Brad and Andrew's mom was Julia Childs's assistant chef I read in an interview, and they all love to cook, so that makes sense. Although it does sound more like writin' in Dighton.
- It's "May give the drummer some"... the drummer Andrew Barr's birthday is in may
