I WILL NOT FADE!!!! I WILL NOT FADE!!!!!
i might be a baby caught in the snow, but you know.....
I WILL NOT FADE!!! I WILL NOT FADE!!!!
i ripped off my arms so long ago

all these wheels, they seem amazing
all these bombs must be ready to blow
all this time i could have tried
all this time i did not know

the letters grow long and weary and build into a maze
the dialects laid beneath drip from hands yellow stained
inside the envelope and heart of golden sand
wrapped in snakes, clenched in a fist of a mechanical hand
give up and go away INTO THE VOID
be silent and do not speak INTO THE VOID
be blind and do not gaze INTO THE VOID
be numb and do not reach INTO THE VOID

....AND IF THEY WANT
....AND IF THEY WANT
....AND IF THEY WANT
I'LL COME UNDONE.

i might be amazed like a baby but i don't have those eyes
soaring quails sing of their glories
vultures always lie
in the deep the creatures weep
begging to be fried
any change can be magnificent
if you only try

FACE THE STARS OR THE ABYSS!!!!
FACE THE STARS OR THE ABYSS!!!!
FACE THE STARS OR THE ABYSS!!!!
FACE THE STARS OR THE ABYSS!!!!
ill face the stars or the abyss
but not nothing at all
ill face the stars or the abyss
from nothing i can't fall

all these wheels, they seem amazing
all these bombs must be ready to blow
all this time i could have tried
all this time i did not know

Its so amazing

Holy shit, where it kicks in at the "And if they want!!" part: wow! Oh, and the part after that as well. And earlier when... And then later where...... And that other part with the.......

Okay, seriously though, this whole song is fucking killer- just straight up brilliant and beautiful. I can't wait for the album to come out (9/20/05).

this is by far the bestest song ever! ronald is right. the "and if they want" part has the sickest keyboards ever, and it goes right into the grooviest nintendo fandango party ever, but nothing beats the end with the "it was wonderful. it was great" thing. that was so random!

I love how this song ties up the entire album with referances to each song (or maybe almost every song).

My fav part... "I might be amazed like a baby but" ya that line, its so amazing, wise and melodic.

What do the quails and vultures represent? I thought I heard that the refrence to vultures is a refrence to his ex

This has always been my "Most Played" HtB song. It is so much amazing orgasmic fantastic...I can't put it in words, it's just the best damn song..the songs it mentions are, "Sand, The Mechanical Hand, Taken By Vultures", and perhaps,"Manateen"(creatures begging to be killed?). Anyway, I don't really see a meaning to this song, just summing everything up with kick ass everything.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
