i cant believe my ears
yeah. how youd ever found out
those were the lies that came out of your mouth
ive been crying way too long
lying here with out you
so tonight
tonight

im never gonna to go back
im never gonna go back to you
alright
alright
ill give it up and go back
give up and go back to you

she cries her self to sleep at night
and no ones there to dry her eyes
and you know it wont be me
you know it wont be me
tonight

never did i kno i would try to take your life
thats the truth
never did i kno that you would take my heart and break it in two
but you did and i wish you well
because i cant hold out forever
but im glad you did
and now its better off this way

open up your arms tonight
you know you really want to let me in your heart tonight
you wanna let me on in
you kno i would love to help

she cries her self to sleep at night
and no ones there to dry her eyes
she knows it wont be me
you know it wont be me
tonight

everytime your crying
or think of dying
i hope your thinkin of me
everytime i bleed
i like to think of how we would be

but does it mater because you left me now
cuz i cant hold out for ever
but im glad that you did
and now its better off this way

open up your arms tonight
you know you really want to let me in your heart tonight
you wanna let me on in
you kno i would love to help

tonight
tonight
im never gonna to go back
im never gonna go back to you
alright
alright
ill give it up and go back
give up and go back to you

she cries her self to sleep at night
and no ones there to dry her eyes
you know it wont be me
she knows it wont be me

take things for granted
she leaves me alone
broken and bruised
now im waiting by the phone now
alone now
im home now
i still lie all alone
i still lie all alone
i still lie all a...

i see your eyes
dont look down now
you try to talk but the words wont...
come on now
i know you missed me all along
i know you missed me all a.....

i see your eyes
dont look down now
i try to talk but the words wont come out loud.

i know you missed me all along
all along!.....

i see your eyes
dont look down now
you try to talk but the words wont come arround
i know you missed me all along
all along

i see your eyes
dont look down now
i try to talk but the words wont come arround
i know you missed me all along
all along

---------slow----------

i see your eyes
dont look down now
you try to talk but the words wont...
come on now.
i know you missed me all along.

you see my eyes
i wont look down now
ill try to talk but the words wont ...
come on now
i know
i missed you all along

all along

i really do think this is a good song and i can deff relate to it. i believe its about a couple struggling to make their realtionship work..and she cries at night because she knows she loves him he knows he loves her yet they cant seem to make it work at the beginning but towards the end they both realize that they love each other and being in each other arms is the only comfort they can get. its like thats the peace she recieves and theres no more crying.

Aww..if only you could get back together with someone you love in real life. I'd give anything for that! But yeah, this song is great!

Ah mannn, absolutely love this song. Such a good chorus. It's def about a relationship that went sour.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
