Cut myself open wide
Breach inside
Help yourself
To all I have to give
And then you help yourself again
And then complain
That you didn't like the way
I put the knife in wrong
You didn't like the way
My blood spilled on your brand new floor

What would you say
If I walked away
Would you appreciate
But then it'd be too late
Because I can only take so much
Of your ungrateful ways
Everything is never enough

Sacrifice my life
Neglect my kids and wife
All for you to be happy
All those sleepness nights
And countless fights to give you more
And then you say how dare that
I didn't write you back
I must be too good for you
I only care about myself

What would you say
If I walked away
Would you appreciate
But then it'd be too late
Because I can only take so much
Of your ungrateful ways
Everything is never enough

What would you say
If I walked away
Would you appreciate
But then it'd be too late
Because I can only take so much
Of your ungrateful ways
Everything is never enough

General CommentNever Enough could possibly be about us (or at least some of us...), the fans.

About how some of us just never have enough and always complain about what DT puts out no matter how hard they try and how hard they work and never appreciate their work.

Further "evidance" to this is taken from the theme song, Octavarium: "Sixth. They call them admirers, claim they adore
Drain all your life blood but begging for more."

    That's my take on it...
Now meaning aside - Octavarium, the album, simply ROCKS! Not the new DT masterpiece but definitaly stands proud. I love it!

Edit: It seems that my thought about the lyric were correct. Mike have said this on an XM show not too long ago.

General Commentthe song is very similar to a post that Portnoy made at the message board of DT. And yes it is about the fans, because no matter what they do, some fans just arent 100% satisfied. For example the setlist for Live at Budokan many people ranted that they didnt liked the setlist, but hey it is impossible to have a set that everyone likes.

    =S

General CommentI was not a big fan before TOT, so I definitely got into DT BECAUSE they started to play more heavy stuff, but now I'm finding an appreciation for the softer stuff too. But I've heard some older guys (30s,40s) who love DT, but hate TOT and the heavier stuff because they see it as selling out. They played at DTE in Detroit, and the show did not sell out. SO much for them selling out !! LOL.

General CommentIt seem for some fans that DT has to do what they want to hear.

My guess is that the song was Really written but not to us, to those guys that sell them to DT play a kind of song they like (the fans), and not what the guys from DT do thinking we will like.

Months spent dedicated to people that instead of apreciating the work, call hours of hard work useless because they didn't like a thing or two.

And if they walked away, i would probably cry.

General CommentYeah, I agree, the song is most likely about harsh fans out there that aren't die hard enough to love -anything- DT puts out.

And as previously stated by another member, if they walked away, I would cry, especially if it happened before I got a chance to see them live. Er, it would be murder!
