Over And Out Lyrics

Restless little one
Comfortable and warm
Let me fall apart
Crippled in your arms

Chase me through the dark
Ready on your mark
First to reach the stars
Wins a broken heart
One that broke apart
Shattered from the start

Are you there?
Do you read me?
Are you there?
I don't feel you anymore

Cages and alarms
Keeping us from harm
I will be the guard
Hope to rest upon

Could I be the one
To break a will so strong
Pray it won't be long
Til your will is gone
Everything is done
Nothing left at all

Are you there?
Do you read me?
Are you there?
I don't feel you anymore

Are you there?
Will you give in?
Are you there?
If I give out
Over and out

Cages and alarms
Keeping us from harm
I will be the guard
Hope to rest upon
Everything is done
Nothing left at all

Are you there?
Do you read me?
Are you there?
I don't feel you anymore

Are you there?
Will you give in?
Are you there?
If I give out

Interesting insight, HorustheHorizon.

This song is a real puzzle to me.

When the song was asked about in an interview, an uncomfortable Dave (who was being interviewed singularly) averted his eyes from the camera and glanced at the floor. He remarked that the song was personal. (The interview was: "Interview exclusive - See the Foo Fighters talk through their new album on camera.")

Though on a kind of ridiculous take...It is known that Dave's into UFOs, aliens, etc. I remember reading that when Dave was a kid he used to lie out on the grass (in his backyard?) and yell, "Come and take me!" So as a more ridiculous and silly interpretation, the "Are you there/Can you read me" seems to be referencing that.

where can you find the interview?

My first impression of this song was that it's about a miscarriage... "Are you there? I don't feel you anymore?" Like an unborn child fighting for his/her life. Just a thought!

md9up, I totally agree. I feel it's about a pregnancy loss, or death of a child. Restless little one, Comfortable and warm... Chase me through the dark... a broken heart...Shattered from the start... Are you there?...I don't feel you anymore. Possibly from a car accident? Cages and alarms, Keeping us from harm... I will be the guard, Hope to rest upon... Referenceing a prayer? Could I be the one To break [god's] will so strong Asking for it to be painless and fast, no suffering Pray it won't be long, Til your will is gone Everything is done. Nothing left at all.

I just bought the album and was listening to the accoustic disc and this song was one of my favourites... just thought i'd let you know.

All of the songs on the acoustic disc are pretty incredible, but this was the first one that got a big reaction out of me.

The chorus is so simple and heartbreaking. You get that picture of a radio with nothing but static.

Amazing song, possibly my favorite on the new album. But that's like picking your favorite child for me.

Two words: heartbreaking, beautiful.

for some reason, it makes me think of a dog. when i heard the beginning, "restless little one, comfortable and warm" i thought of my dog.. the cages and alarms, keeping us from harm fits too.. i dont know, just an idea...

also, to add to above, the ' cripped in your arms, referring to a dog/pet could mean someone running to save an animal that was possibly ran over (happened to me) and 'are you there, i dont feel you anymore' could mean the dog had died and the person is going through a hard time. ' cripples in your arms could also mean that the dog is always there. i always would lay and cry to my dog ( when he was still alive) when i was said. I do agree on the space shuttle theory though.. i guess it could mean all sorts of things

When I first heard this song, I thought of a slowly weaking relationship between a long and commited relationship where one thing has gone wrong and now everything is going wrong.

"Shattered from the start" means to me how now everything is messing up and becoming worse, and he's thinking to himself like, why he couldn't have known this would have happened from the start anyway.

"Are you there? I don't feel you anymore..." basically means how things have changed, and somehow their strong bond between one another has broken loose, and the things they used to do that was so meaningful and only between them two has no significane at all now.
