"Lay it on the Line" as written by Mike Levine, Gil Moore and Rik Emmett....
It's the same old story all over again
You turn a lover into just another friend
I want to love you, I want to make you mine
Won't you lay it on the line?

I'm tired of playing all your foolish games
I'm tired of all of your lies making me insane
I don't ask for much, the truth'll do just fine
Won't' you lay it on the line

Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line
Don't waste my time

You got no right to make me wait
We better talk, girl, before it gets too late
I never thought you could be so unkind
Won't you lay it on the line

Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line
Don't waste my time

You know I love you, you know it's true
It's up to you, girl, what've I got to do
Don't hold me up, girl, don't waste my precious time
Won't you lay it on the line

Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line

General CommentThe guy is trying to take the upper hand in the relationship and he's getting impatient as he needs to know what her feelings really are...one of their good songs for sure.

General CommentThis is an awsome song. Next to Rush, and maybe Ceap Trick, Triumph is my favorite band

General CommentTriumph was a pretty good band, but this is by far their best song. Not sure why, but the guitar solo in this song has always been one of my favorites. It's a pretty basic solo, but it fits the mood and the emotions of the song so perfectly that it makes me all tingly every time I hear it.

As for the meaning, it's pretty self-explanitory. Do yourself a favor and listen to this song and find out on your own.

General CommentCan't agree more with what most have posted...Rik is an inspiration and I highly recommend the Rock n Roll Machine album to anyone who's new to the band. So if you haven't do so the solo in the title song is pretty intense.

General CommentOne of their best. This song solidified Rik Emmett's place as the lead singer.
