Tomb Of Liegia Lyrics
I killed a man of mine
In a small Montana town
I was hunted down by hounds
Their voices dry and hollow
Hear the crowd cheer
They cheer me to the gallows
I was doing time alive
I made a plan to escape
And live as the lady of the lake
[Chorus 2]
Hear the crowd of ghosts
Their voices dry and hollow
Can't you hear their call
They cheer me to the gallows
Was the year I came up for trial
I listened to his song
And watched the sun make the shadows long
His voice is dry and hollow
Hear the crowd call
They cheer me to the gallows
Hear the nighthawk call
His voice is dry and hollow
Here the nighthawk call
In a voice that's hollow

It's inspired by an Edgar Allen Poe poem

best song of 2005

awesome song... anybody know what its about? just sounds like a story to me... maybe someone sees something more in the lyrics?

Such a beautiful song..

just sound like a story and i take corinne comment too, it makes a little more sense he/her said " It's inspired by an Edgar Allen Poe poem."

It seems to me that it's refering to actual events. For some reason I get a mental image of those Jonestown Massacre photo's when I hear this song.

"The light have called?" That's not right at all. Here: Chorus 1: Hear the nighthawks cry, their voices dry and hollow, Hear the crowd cheer, they cheer me to the gallows.
Chorus 3: Hear the nighthawk cry, his voice is dry and hollow. Hear the crowd call, they cheer me to the gallows. Hear the nighthawk call, his voice is dry and hollow. Hear the nighthawk call, in a voice that's hollow.

The incessant keyboard riff in this song annoys the shit out of me...over and over again for five minutes, like...it just grates on my nerves. Otherwise, some interesting lyrics.
