I don't have the wind at my back
I don't have a pocket full of cash
And I would never trade any of that
Because you know all the love that I had
Kept me happy not sad
All I need was your laughter
Feel like I'm home

Baby it's only the look in your eye
That keeps me awake, that keeps me alive
Baby, it's only the way that you smile
That keeps me from layin' down to die

I tell you there's a crack in the sky
You tell me there's a chance you'll get by
When I got nothing left to shine
Your love brings a peace to my mind
You think shut up and drive
You think too much baby
Oh I...

Baby it's only the look in your eye
That keeps me awake, that keeps me alive
Baby, it's only the way that you smile
That keeps me from layin' down to die

Baby you're only the way I get over
Every day only the way I get closer
Some kind of God
Some kind of God...

Baby it's only the look in your eye
That keeps me awake, that keeps me alive
Baby, it's only the way that you smile
That keeps me from layin' down to die

It's only the look in your eye, baby, it's only
Only the look in your eye, baby, it's only
Only the look in your eye, baby, it's only
Only the look in your eye, baby, it's only

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
