I saw the photograph, an image of you
Things have never looked, looked like this
It's never been like this
I'm swimming in gray
I'm just swimming in gray

Let them all walk away, all walk away
So there's no one to blame
They all feel the same
Let them all walk away, all walk away
I'll be left with the shame

You saw the photograph, an image of me
You'll never see me like this
It's never felt like this
I'm swimming in gray
I'm just swimming in gray

Let them all walk away, all walk away
So there's no one to blame
They all feel same
Let them all walk away, all walk away
I'll be left with the shame

This is such a beautiful song! I wish more Asobi Seksu lyrics were posted on here. Their music is so dreamlike and wonderful.

uummm this one is filled with sadness, it is filled with surrender, the image stands as a metaphor of fault, an image of you, an image of me.......the deed is done and the speaker is willing to take the blame ....swimming in gray is like swimming in blues.

I think this could be about someone who killed someone by accident or something. Like a car accident. She's swimming in gray because she's sad and feels the shame for killing whoever she killed. I really don't know what they mean. But there's a thought. The song doesn't have nearly as many metaphors or anything, its just there isn't enough detail.

What I always imagined this song was about a relationship on the brink of dissolving. In the beginning she is looking at a picture of her lover. In the picture, everything is easy, her lover looks so happy, but in reality, they’ve never been happy, like that or she was never able to make them that happy. I think what she means by “I’m swimming in gray” is like she feels trapped in the gray area of the relationship-in between the beautiful façade that she doesn’t want end and the reality of what is actually going on.

In the chorus, I think she is allowing him/her to take the easy way out of the relationship, just to leave because they both know its not working and no one has to be the ‘bad guy”

This song echoes a lot of what I feel right now. From the way I see it, it seems like everyone he/she knows is drifting away. In photographs, you can see how people look or act, but you aren't actually seeing them in real life. This could signify how far away they are, but still close enough to see the changes. To me, this song is letting go of the people that have drifted/are drifting away, despite how hard it may be or how many memories are tied to those people (referring to "swimming in gray").

    Song Comparison

If you like this & think that it's dreamy then check out "Ocean" by the same band. It's an amazing track that carries me away. Love this band.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
