Wave On Wave Lyrics
Great song. One of Pat's best. I concur with the religeous awakening translation.
My late hubby loved this song. I think he knew I was sent by God to find him but sadly I couldn't save him. He was such a good dancer & loved to dance to this one.
I agree that this song is on the surface just about a guy who'd metaphorically "lost his way," and was "saved" by meeting (perhaps rediscovering) his love. It is interesting to note that if you just replace the "she" in "that's when she found me" with "He," the song takes on a interestingly well-match biblical/religeous connotation, as many describe finding their faith as having it come upon them like "waves."
I love that connotation. :)Great song,it's my favorite from Pat Green.

This is gonna be my wedding song!!!
:P Just kidding, just kidding.
i think this song is so pretty . . . its about this guy finally finding the girl hes been looking for, was right there in front of him . . . the whole time
Is 'it came upon me wave on wave' correct? I always thought he said 'they' in place of 'it'...
As I was pasting a quote from a scholarly biblibcal commentary from "cicministry.org" onto my facebook page, about denouncing the dangers of divination, this song was playing on the radio saying "We're all looking for redemption, We're just afraid to say the name.
So caught up now in pretending, That what we're seekin' is the truth. I'm just looking for a happy ending, All I'm looking for is you."
botheyesblind... that is COMPLETELY your opinion. I happen to love country because it has so much more meaning than most of the crap being played on the hot 100. This song is awesome, I kept hearing it but always forgot to go get it.
I don't know what the song's about but the main guitar riff as well as the way the verses are sung remind me heavily of "The Living Years" by Mike + The Mechanics.
