They don't want you to understand
they don't want you to understand
sit back, relax, let go
you won't feel a thing
formulation with no end
a bunch to comprehend
count down from ninety nine...
Ten words certain are vague calling for a plague
count down from ninety nine...
they'll beat you with the truth so you won't feel the lies
they'll beat you with the truth so you don't feel the lies
sit back, relax, let go
you wont feel a thing
you won't feel a thing
they'll tell you everything but they won't tell you anything let go
they'll tell you everything but they won't tell you anything let go
they'll tell you everything but they won't tell you anything let go
they'll tell you everything but they won't tell you anything let go
you won't feel a
you won't feel a
you won't feel a
you won't feel a
you won't feel a thing
you won't feel a thing
until the day you wake up
until the day you wake up
until the day you wake up
until the day you wake up
until the day you wake up...

EPIC CHORUS! Saw 'em at both of their Connecticut stops on their current tour, and Ian explained it's about the country basically being asleep while very bad things in the US's name. He compared it to a patient going in for surgery, getting anesthesia, and not feeling anything. But then as the anesthesia wears off, the pain comes in. So, now that the country's waking up to these acts, now we're feeling the pain. Seriously, I love the fade-out. It works so well in this context, especially because the whole song's about how you won't feel anything, and then here's this reminder that once you wake up... well, that's not the case any more, now, is it?

Yeah same. When i saw them live Ian made the audience join in for the fade out chorus. It was amazing to have every one join in. Its such a sad song but really does portray the way the US is heading.

I've counted down from 99 quite a few times, but always had Vicodin or the like to help afterwords, unlike the prisoners at Gitmo. We all thought Obama would be the cure. But Gitmo is still active...the NSA is keeping tabs on us all...the Lie Machine is still grinding away...America needs to be water-boarded to wake the fu(k up.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
