This song was written for the Alex Cox film, Sid & Nancy. The first version I heard was MacGowan's duet with Sinaed O'Connor on Youtube, and I followed a link to hear the original, which I also recomend.
It's actually a song very true of that Romeo and Juliet of punk. The chorus is a little tragic, because Sid and Nacy did die. I've always thought of it as being taken from the poem Sid Vicious wrote after Nancy's death, particularly "To my little baby girl/our love will never die." Sid was haunted by Nancy - he obviously never forgot her. They are both haunted with rumours that continue to this day.
They built their worlds around each other, and they were inseparable. Also, the female counterpart of the song, or Nancy, sings "He's kind of shy/But that's the kind of girl I am/He's my kind of guy," and that's apparently what Nancy was like. She liked to mother Sid, and had an overbearing personality.
"There's something about you" really epitomises their story. They were obviously killing each other from day one, but for some reason, they needed one another more than anything. Very sad.
