I've built up this collection of
Souvenirs from years of missed connections
I'm giving it all away
So here's a ripped up picture and
Here's an unused ticket from the show, the play, the game
I'm giving it all away
This is the part

[Chorus:]
This is the part where we start to feel better
And stop shutting up
We're all running out of time, waiting in line

This is the part where your friend got sent and
All the big war words stop making sense
And you wonder where the money ever got spent
And you wonder how that motherfucker ever got in
This is the part where you get to realize that
Whether your dad died, your boy or your girl lied
There are families on the other side
It's a start, it's the same place for any and all hearts
This is the part

[Chorus: x2]

Waiting in line

Yeah, this is the part where we start to feel

[Chorus: x2]

This is the part
Oh, oh, this is the part
Yeah, this is the part
This is the part
This is the part where we start to feel

Gratitude is a great band... everyone go buy their new cd...

This song to me is about just forgetting it all. When you try so hard but you're just like fuck it... what's it mean anyway? And once you've finally let that go, it starts to feel better. It's about learning to not dwell on things and waste time. It also keys in to think that there are ppl out there who are going through the same thing as you, and some worse.

This song is kick ass... it makes me wanna break shit LOL

Best song on the album by far! The end of the song, as Jonah starts screming "This is the Part! Oh, oh, This is the Part!" always sends a shiver through me for some reason

Jonahs best work, Gratitude that is. Agree with the "fuck it" feel. and the shivers up the back is what defines amazing music. thats what this is.

hmm....i never really got the f it vibe. makes sense tho. and yea totally this song is AMAZING...but i saw it as politcal view almost- like check out the second verse. "all the big war words stop making sense" [politcal speechs revealed as lies] "and u wonder how that motherfucker ever got in" [the corrupt politician] ..and then the rest not so black-and-white. but whatever it means, awesome song!!

I dont think this song is about "Fuck it all" at all, more I believe this song is supposed to express the band's distaste for people who care about petty problems in their life, where across the world people are starving and dying of disease... thats just my interpretation..

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
