The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
With a heart so pure
You could fall so quickly
Don’t you dare slow down for me
Were it not for hearts like mine
Calloused thickly
You could fall so easily
(Don’t you dare slow down for me)
You can take everything I have
Just don’t leave my side
No, don’t leave my side
You can take everything I have
Just don’t leave my side
No, don’t leave my side
Cause your words hit like a train
And I can’t ignore it
This moment could be our last
You fall in love
And I’m running after
You move way too fast
But don’t slow down
And don’t let go
Hold me closer now
They say I don’t know how to love the right way
But you make me feel
You make me feel like I do
You can take everything I have
Just don’t leave my side
No, don’t leave my side
Cause your words hit like a train
And I can’t ignore it
This moment could be our last
You fall in love
And I’m running after
You move way too fast
Cause your words hit like a train
And I can’t ignore it
This moment could be our last
You fall in love
And I’m running after
You move way too fast

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines:
"Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet"
So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other:
"I had all and then most of you"
Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart
"Some and now none of you"
Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship.
This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
Magical

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
i love love love this song. so awesome. copeland is amazing
one of my favorites off the new album. it's about just wanting to be with someone, and not caring about how fast things are going.
I agree with younglovers, but also--there's that classic desperation in his voice... It makes me think he's so blown away by this person who shines so brightly, they're just one of those people that see's the world in a different light that all the rest of us. It feels (to me) like such a refreshing love--it's so new and energetic, it's hard to get into the rhythm of it--"You always hit like a train"--but it's better than anything that's been had before--"and I can't ignore it..."
or I could totaly misquote my favorite band... that's alright...
Also-- what if the person in this song loves him so much it's staggering. They're way over the edge, "You fall in love," and the singer (or whoever's in his position) is struggling to keep up, but wanting to so badly-- "don't slow down."
great song. great new album. these fellows continue to be so wonderful.
I love the transitions of this song. The Beginning, to the slowed down "You can take everything I have", to the sped up "Your words hit like a train..."
Musically....I love it
The lyrics arn't half bad either :-)

My english teacher just turned me on to Copeland and this is by far my favorite song by them so far.
I got from it that the guy has had many relationship's over the past and the girl has never really been in love. She is falling fast and he doesn't want her to because of one reason or another but a part of him doesn't care and he doesn't want her to slow down. I love it!
You can take everything I have... Just don’t leave my side No, don’t leave my side
