Time Tonight Lyrics

For changing lines
I've got no time tonight
In these times the wind surpasses the tide
when the wake up's hard to find
Dreams make up for your life
This crazy shine it never lets you die
Growing up
We become what we want
Again the moon rises up too high
And we don't need the sky
Wonder what it is that makes the world turn slower
Wonder what it is that makes me feel so mad
Everyone that talks to me I so wish wouldn't
I wouldn't even care except I feel so bad
Why is there no one in my life
Time
There's no time tonight
Wide
There's no room to see wide
Time
There's no time tonight
There's no one in my life

I agree with FruscianteFan. In the day, everybody and everything is busy and there are natural distractions everywhere. At night, it's the only time you can get lost in your own thoughts and THEN question what has happened in the day just gone, and in your life in general.

I think this applies to the last few lines in particular. - 'Why is there no one in my life', ' There's no room to see wide' Questioning the people who are in your life, feeling blinkered and only able to look at certain things in a certain light because of your experiences.

Wonder what it is that makes the world turn slower', 'Wonder what it is that makes me feel so mad', 'There's no time tonight' - You have too many thoughts swirling around your head, and not enough time to question them all and find the answers you wish.

For changing lines I've got no time tonight These lines always strike me personally as a reference to symbolising your life as a play. (You appear on stage, you interact with people, you experience different stages and feelings, and then the, urm, curtain calls.) Therefore, 'for changing lines, I've got no time tonight', perhaps signifies you wanting to change your script to go back and do things differently, or simply to put you in a more favourable place in the future. It could also be a reference to John's feelings towards his own songwriting.

when the wake up's hard to find Dreams make up for your life

Not wanting to have to face the day, and face everyone around you. You feel that being asleep is the only chance you have to control your own life and dream about things you wish you had in your life. Dreaming could also represent creativity of the mind - and songwriting could be described as creativity of the mind.

This crazy shine it never lets you die 'Shine' could symbolise fame - a never dying light that puts you on a pedestal, a spotlight, and you feel you can't get away from it. It could also represent the spotlight you put upon yourself - pressure to complete everything you do in the highest possible standard.

Such a great song.

its about being alone. being without a partner can be one of the saddest things to go through. thinking about being alone ends up consuming lots of time, some of it during the night. think of the emphasis on "why is there no one in my life?"

heres what it means to me. Did u ever just stay up half the night just thinking about things, thinking about your life? You just loose all track of time and drift into your own world. its one of my favorite feelings... just existing. well anyway thats what it means to me

I like the song a lot.

Anyone have an idea what it means? I'll have to listen to it a lot more to get an understanding.

Oh yes... It didn't need me a lot listennings to get the sense...

This is how I feel a lot of time in my life... As right now...

This is when you're so tired of life, at least of the way your life had gone, and you began to question yourself why you are in that state, nobody to understand you... And then, you realize that It wouldn't even matter if there was somebody with you, to understand you, because you know that it will never change the way you feel, the way you see things and the way you...

i think it's about how a person feels when, or after they have ended a relationship. i don't know i could be wrong but that's what i feel it means to me.

if you look at this song in diffrent ways thre are diffrent meanings.

i can listen to this song and yes want to sleep all day and never get out (like today i was ther for 12 hours)

but also i found that when he says "time theres no time tonight" it makes me smilt alot and feel that you dont have to be within time when out doing everyday normal things and that its ok to be in your own little world when around in places wiht people.

i suffer from depression and when i listen to this song it can bring in great light to my life and many tings with it.

I think "changing lines" might be the divisions we each try to make in our minds between right and wrong, moral and immoral, sane and insane... etc If you start thinking deeper about everything and lose yourself in your thoughts, the dividing lines aren't so clear... they blur and change.

my favorite song by the fru. It makes me cry because it's just so pretty.

This song haunts my soul in a beautiful way. To me it is just John's reflection on his life, what it has meant to him, note all the references to life-like cycles-tide, wind, moon rising up, etc...

I think he is just trying to figure out what may be missing in his life he feels a lot of pain about something that he can't quite place his finger on, and he therefore he asks why?

All of these thoughts he has relate to the irrelevance of time, these matters in his life are far more important than the concept of time...I guess what I'm saying is he wants purpose in life and this purpose has no true relation to time.

Just a man staying up all night forgetting about the time and feeling a little lonely.
