Your sentry-men fall behind

You're wasting my time like mini-crosswords do.
You're breaking the line you just tripped over
Everytime

Your sentry-men fall behind
Into the sunspots we vanish away . . .

You're falling in time like penny dreadfuls do.
Tripped over the line (again)
That's two for flinching.
I'd pay anyone 20 bucks just to do that
Cause everything in this place is fooling
Except for the sound.
It's just a thing that I carry around.

Into the sunspots we vanish away . . .

Saw your face in the mirror said 3 times.

I fly . . .

The title is math. Rob Crow worked at an Arby's in SanDiego and that's where all the lines about boredom, crosswords and penny dreadfuls, and the freezing comment is about the cooler where Arby's keeps all their curly fries and whatnot, the fans in there are really loud and it's cold. Rob's manager once dared anyone 20 bucks to lick the puddle of red stuff right by the door.

no comments on this one yet? This is one of my fave songs that Pinback does. I'm not going to even hazard a guess as to it's meaning, but it's such a great song!

I agree. I like this song - but it's hard to figure out what it means. And also what does the title mean?

i think the line "saw your face in the mirror said 3 times" refers to bloody mary. not the drink, but the legend of saying bloody mary into the mirror 3 times.

I think its about boredom, and how people will do a lot to kill time. Even stupid shit. Stuff that people do when they don't know how to communicate perhaps. And he uses freezing in a very cynical manner. And the sunspots...hmm...could have something to do with little moments of awe, and happiness that fade away. Perhaps he thinks we live for that. and the rest is just a battle against stupid old boredom. Sorta got lost halfway thru this post but wateva xD

Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
