you got wires, comin out of your skin
you got tears
making tracks
i got tears
that are scared of the facts
through automatic doors
got to get to you
got to see this through
i see hope is here in a plastic box
i've seen christmas lights reflect in your eyes
you got wires, comin out of your skin
there's dry blood on your wrist
your dry blood on my fingertip
through automatic doors
got to get to you
got to see this through
first night of your life
curled up on your own
looking at you now
you would never know
i see it in your eyes
you'll be alright
i see it in your eyes
you'll be alright
Alright
through automatic doors
got to get to you
got to see this through
i see hope is here in a plastic box
i've seen christmas lights reflect in your eyes
through automatic doors
got to get to you
got to see this through
first night of your life
curled up on your own
looking at you now
you would never know

This song is about the lead singers daughter. She was born prematurly. The 'wires going in, wires comin out of your skin' are the tubes and wires that were used to keep the baby alive -vmonitors, medicine were attached to the these. The 'plastic box' is the incubator used to keep the baby warm. he is singing about what happened to his daughter. i love the part 'looking at you now, you would never know' it tell us that his daughter is fine and that by looking at her you would never guess she was premature...which is the same as me..which is why i love this song as i was prem aswell, so its what happened to me espeacially the 'christmas lights reflect in your eyes' as i spent mt first christmas in hospital.

yeah, this song was definitley written about his new born baby but you can easily relate it to your own experiences, i know i can. Its for anyone who's had a best, frend, member of their family or anyone else they cae about in hospital. Its abot having all control taken out of your hands and feeling totally helpless because you can't be the one to protect them anymore, your just playing a waiting game. The lyrics "running down corridors through automatic doors got to get to you got to see this through" are just so vivid and real to anyone who has been through the same kind of experience. I just think this is a beautiful sone and can't wait for the album (31st jan), i just wish i could also relate to "i see it in your eyes you'll be alright ", coz it didn't work out that way for me.

The comeback song for Athlete off their new album Tourist. It has quite a melancholic feel to it, however the song is full of hope, and i think is actually about the lead singers baby which was born and had to recieve quick medical attention, until later returned to their parents fine.
i think this could be the year of the athlete!
That makes a lot of sense...
That makes a lot of sense...
Am i the only person who thought it was about someones attempt at suicide because of "there's dry blood on your wrist" And yeah i always thought maybe it was about that lol

This song can not only be about a premature baby being born and placed in a box with wires inside...it can also mean any person in the hospital. I love this song because I've been in and out of hospitals for the past 4 years for various life threatening illnesses. The box he refers to can also be a ventilator or a morphine drip machine. The wires of course can be IV's

preety much confirms it. amazingly powerful song

this is definately about a baby, he said at a gig at the islington academy early last year when they toured Vehicles and Animals (they improve every time i see them). he wrote it about his nephew if memory serves me rightly. this song was amazing then and is tearworthy now!

This is an amazing song, I'm really impressed with this and caint wait for the new album.

I might be wrong but I'm sure the lead singer said that this song was about being away from the person you're in love with but you know they are gonna be ok. Does that make any sense? The other suggestions make more sense to me anyway!

I am not usually into this sort of music, more a rap lsitener, but this song its simply beautiful, love it, very deep an powerful

Heard this first in the background on Match Of The Day...a wierd forum for new music, but hey, they've just started playing thirteen senses - thru the fire and that's a tune and a half too.
What a song this is!! El Salvador and Westside kinda got me interested in Athlete but I never bought Vehicles And Animals. Well, I'm buying it now, and I'm defo buying Tourist.
I agree with you guys about the whole baby theme. This song perfectly reflects on his urgency to get to the operating theatre and, IMO, reflects on his anxiety that he has to be there to protect the baby.
"got to get to you " shows his panic

amazing
