"Painted Soldiers" as written by and Kannberg....

That's all you're singing now?

Woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo Woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo

Why'd you have to say those things
About my face, about my name?
I didn't want things to end this way
I didn't want things to end this way

All my soldiers are painted
And I'm one of them
But I'm still dedicated
And I feel...

Woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo Woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo

Why'd you have to say those things
About my faults, about my sting?
I didn't want things to end this way
I didn't want things to end this way.

All my soldiers are painted
And I'm one of them,
But I'm still dedicated
To seeing...

I knew he liked to talk about himself
But he wanted the whole world to know.
It made me sick inside...
I just gotta hold back.

Woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo Woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo, woohoo hoo

And if your soldiers are painted
Don't be like one of them.
But if you're still dedicated,
It's all right...

General CommentMaybe it's just the drama queen in me, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this song is about Spiral's frustration with SM's dismissive nature about his songs/song-writing.

General Commentmy favourite pavement song, and probably my favourite song, period.

sung by spiral stairs, it's on the "kids in the hall: braincandy" soundtrack. however, it's played without any lyrics in the movie. (it's at the scene where kevin mcdonald as dr.cooper and bruce mcculloch as cisco step out of a limo and walk up a red carpet. classic seagull-in-the-eye scene too...)

anyway, i actually have no idea what it's "meaning" is. but is one supa-fine assed song.

General CommentAm I the only one who thinks it's funny that when in the music video when the ambulance comes to take malkmus away after being fired, the ambulance driver who puts him on the stretcher looks a LOT like Billy Corgan? Am I crazy or was that intentional? Anyway, great song, hilarious video.

General CommentI agree with rhigbie1 about how this song is most likely referring to SM's sometimes abrasive nature. Also I never noticed the Corgan look-a-like in the video! great find, its funny whether or not it was intentional.
