"Moon" as written by Andy Burrows and Peter Dixon....
I watch you spin from afar
I drink you in and breath you out
I'm camouflaged by the time-line
I'm camouflaged when the sun shines

Two ships passing in the night
Two lips pressing ground the tides

[Chorus]
I believe the world it spins for you
We will never be, I am the moon
I believe the world it spins for you
We will never be, I am the moon

I long to be a part
I isolate my heart
You've drawn me into your world
Now I too spin limbless

One hand clapping, where's the wind
I stand spanning at your distant wings

[Chorus]

I believe the world it spins for you
We will never be, I am the moon

General Commentbest lyrics ever...so simple, yet so metaphorically deep on so many levels..love sia

    "I'm camouflaged by the timeline"

The person that she adores is unaware of her and her feelings/she is hidden because they are both at different points in their lives (just like how the moon and the earth are on a different orbit/timeline around the sun)

"I'm camouflaged when the sun shines"

The person that she adores is unaware of her/she is hidden whenever that person is experiencing joyful moments (celebrating a birthday, at a party, laughing with friends, etc.) (just like when the sun shines on the earth, the moon is hidden. the happiness=when the sun is shining on the earth, there is life.. flowers bloom, plants grow, people absorb energy, etc.)

"two ships passing in the night"
"two lips pressing ground the tides"

the only time that we are "together" or "connected" or "side-by-side" is in the night, when are thoughts transcend and we have similar thoughts. ie when we think of the deeper things in life, our goals, our past, our future, love itself, etc. and in these moments, it is like our phantom lips touch in this case the two people are represented by the two ships, two lone ships traveling through the sea (depth of the ocean and lone atmosphere rep. the deep introspective thoughts)(just like the moon and the sun watch two ships that pass each other in the ocean at night, the moon's gravitational pull creates the tides that sway and push the boats forward, it's almost like the moon is brushing against the earth's surface as its gravitational pull does this, hence "two lips pressing ground the tides")

i may be putting more into this than what was intended by the writer but, these are my most fav. lines of the song and mean this much to me every time i hear it..it makes my heart cringe whenever i hear these lines sung, especially since sia has a ridiculously amazing voice;)

General CommentI'm reading that a lot of people are saying the song is about a girl who loves a guy who doesnt notice her. But to me it seems as if he WANTS to be with her and she WANTS to be with him desperately but something is keeping her from him. She "isolates her heart"/ "LONGS to be apart". And now that they are apart, she still watches him and wonders what it would be like. She believes the world spins for him but she cannot be with him. She longs to but she can't and she knows this. It's almost like she let him go and knows it's for the best because they cannot be together. Haha IDK!! That's my interpretation for some reason..
"Two ships passing in the night".
And if she can only be with him sometimes, then she cannot be with him at all. It would be unfair to the both of them.
Or this could be about a past relationship where she let him go, but still watches him knowing it wouldnt have worked.

General CommentThis song is so beautiful, her sweet voice shows her pain.

She longs to be with this guy but for some reason its not possible, he doesn't feel the same way, he might not even know she likes him.

These beautiful lyrics romanticise a painful experience.....its gorgeous!

General CommentThis is one of my favourite songs ever... Been following Sia since taken for granted was promo-ing ahead of healing is difficult, and I think this is definitely a pinnacle of her achievements.

"I believe the world it spins for you", such a cute line, sang so emotionally.

    General Commentto me its like:
"I watch you spin from afar
I drink you in and breath you out
    I'm camouflaged by the timeline
I'm camouflaged when the sun shines"

she's been watching someone's world like not as a stalker but as like.. to see what someone's like.
but he never sees her or notices her. she wants to get to know him, to be with him, but he doesn't knoww know her.

"Two ships passing in the night
Two lips pressing ground the tides"
the two ships... like the both of them.. passing by each other going separate ways

"I believe the world it spins for you"
    he is everything to her

We wil never be, I am the moon"
its not possible for them to be together.. because they're so far away from each other

I long to be a part
"she wants to be a part of his life"

    "I isolate my heart
You've drawn me into your world
    Now I too spin limbless"
she doesn't want to get hurt.. like her heart broken but she can't help it.. shes fallen for him.

-beautiful song, one of my favorites.. i can definitely relate

General CommentShe wants to be with this person so much & he is her everything. She's attracted to him and feels that her life revolves around this one person (like the moon to the earth). However she knows she is invisible to him (camouflaged by the timeline) and that they will 'never be'. Despite this she still 'spins limbless' for him as she is unable to tear away.

Her voice is so beautiful & full of emotion, as in many of her songs, however I find it a little too repetitive towards the end. I can relate only too well to the lyrics.

General Commenther voice in this song gives me chills. its so soothing and gives me a sense of serenity. and the lyrics break your heart when you listen to them. there's so much love through out the song from the way she sings it and the way the lyrics are written.
i think anyone can relate to the lyrics.

General Commenti agree that she's in love with someone, but i think that because she feels so camouflaged, like it's never going to happen as she feels so distant "I stand spanning at your distant wings," that she doesn't want to feel how she is feeling as she cannot find anyone else to compare,
    "I long to be apart"
    I isolate my heart
You've drawn me into your world
Now I, too, spin limbless, and thus feels totally hopeless and doesn't like it.

One hand clapping, where's the wind?
