"Miracles" as written by and Roger Frederick Cook....
If only you believe like I believe, baby, (If only you believe like I believe)
We'd get by
If only you believe in miracles, (If only you believed in miracles so would I)
If only you believe like I believe, baby, (If only you believe like I believe)
We'd get by
If only you believe in miracles, (If only you believed in miracles so would I)

I might have to move heaven and earth to prove it to you, baby (baby)
So we're making love, you feel the power and I feel the power
And there's really nothing we can't do
(You know we could, you know we could)
If we wanted to
(You know we could, you know we could)
We could exist on the stars, it was so easy.

(Oh Baby)
All we got to do is get a little faith in you.
Woah, I've been so many places I've seen some things (yes I have)
I know that love is the answer (yes it is)
Keeps holding this world together (oh yeah)
Ain't nothing better? Ain't nothing better?(Nothing's better!)
And all the answers to our prayers,
Hell, it's the same everywhere. (just the same now)
Nothing ever breaks up the heart(love's a game now)
only your tears give you away (Ain't it a shame now).

When you're right where I found you(oh baby)
with my arms around you. (oh baby)
Baby, baby.
Love is a magic word if you ever find inner life
But from that very first look in your eyes
I see you and I have but one heart.
Only our bodies were apart (it's making me crazy)
That was so easy, so easy
I had a taste of the real world (Just a drop of it)
When I went down on you, girl, oh

If only you believe like I believe, baby, (If only you believe like I believe)
We'd get by
If only you believe in miracles, (If only you believed in miracles so would I)
If only you believe like I believe, baby, (If only you believe like I believe)
We'd get by
If only you believe in miracles, (If only you believed in miracles so would I)

I can hear windmills and rainbows whenever you talkin' to me
(Never say never)
I feel like swirling and dancing whenever you walk in with me (whenever, whenever you walk with me)
You ripple like the river when I touch you (let me touch you)
Then I pluck your body like a string (show you what I mean)
Then I start dancing inside you (oh baby, a love song)
Oh baby in a love song, aw baby
(love song) aw baby (love song) aw baby (love song)
Oh yeah, yeah, alright
Baby we're sure doin' it tonight (baby we're sure doing it)

Every time you come by let me try (come on by)
Pretty please, with sugar on it, that's how I like it, ugh.
I can't even believe it with you
It's like having every dream I ever wanted
(Dream of a lifetime) come true.
I picked up your vibes, you know (I'm having a fine time)
It opened my mind but I'm still dreaming.
Yeah (yeah eh eh oh)
And you're right where I found you, with my arms around you! (oh baby)

If only you believe like I believe, baby, (If only you believe like I believe)
We'd get by
If only you believe in miracles, (If only you believed in miracles so would I)
If only you believe like I believe, baby, (If only you believe like I believe)
We'd get by
If only you believe in miracles, (If only you believed in miracles so would I)
So would I
So would I

If only you believe like I believe, baby, (If only you believe like I believe)
We'd get by
If only you believe in miracles, (If only you believed in miracles so would I)
If only you believe like I believe, baby, (If only you believe like I believe)
We'd get by
If only you believe in miracles, (If only you believed in miracles so would I)

General CommentMan, this song brings me back...just heard it recently for the first time in years. Wow. For me, the early posters here captured my thinking of what this song is about.

aThousandCrows, I think you've totally missed the point. There's a difference between dirty and sensuality/physical intimacy. As far as a religious connection, I don't see it. I'm a religious person, but I don't think you need to be religious to believe (or not believe) in miracles. There are obviously issues within the relationship and if she believes things will work, then he will as well. He's yearning for a mutual commitment to what they have. The belief--or lack thereof--is not in religion, but the reality and potential of the relationship.

Just one thing I'm curious about, how do you hear a rainbow? :)

General CommentWow. This song is awesome. Jefferson Starship's best, next to "Ride The Tiger". Nobody put that up on this joint? I'll have to find the lyrics for it. Anyway, this song is amazing. Funny thing is, I never gave the lyrics much thought. But now that you guys mention it, I'm giving it a closer listen right now.

General Commentlets not forget the the lines:

I had a taste of the real world
When I went down on you, girl.

Pretty much seals the deal for me that sex is what they are singing about. I like this song but I ecspecially like how he sings the chorus of the song.

TranslationMy parents played this song, I didn't really care for it at the time.

But I heard the chorus at the end of the movie Crank I believe, and it just sound so, so pretty I guess you could say. Although the lyrics are a bit dirty.

Anyway, I the point of my post is this. Focusing on the chorus something stood out to me. I don't know if everybody gets this but it's what I got.

"If only you believed like I believed, we'd get bye."
"If only you believed in miracles, so would I."

He's having a conflict between his "religious" beliefs, and his love for this woman who does not share them. He's in a state of limbo "If only you believed how I believe, we'd last." While also saying "If only you believed as I do, I would keep my religion (beliefs)" as a result he sorta of has neither. Accepting her is partially denying himself, and denying himself is the only way he can accept her. I just love that concept, even though it's sad.

General CommentI can't remember where I heard this, but apparently Miracles is about a sexual fantasy...as the lyrics clearly show...

When I pluck your body like a string
When I start dancin’ inside ya
Oh baby, you make me wanna sing
    Yeah, baby, baby, baby, baby

General CommentI have heard the same thing except not a fantasy, but a real experience with someone. And yes, one only needs to read the lyrics to see the obvious. What a great song. A very poetic way to speak erotic. If it is about someone in perticular, that is a very lucky someone to have had such a great song written about them.
