I'm having trouble sleeping
You're jumping in my bed
Twisting in my head
Leave me

I'm having touble breathing
You're sitting on my chest
I sure could use the rest
Leave me

It's you
Why's it always you and never me
Never dared to let my feelings free
Why's it always you and never me
Never cared too much for honesty

I'm having trouble sleeping
I'm thinking of what you said
Of all the tears being shed
Leave me

It's you
Why's it always you and never me
Never dared to let my feelings free
Why's it always you and never me
Never cared too much for honesty

It's you
Now and always you but never me
Never dared to let my feelings free
Why's it always you and never me
Never cared too much for honesty

    My Interpretation

after a while of thinking, for some reason i came up with my own interpretation: he's the "other man" in this girl's relationship. { i'm having trouble sleeping you’re jumping in my bed twisting in my head leave me } she's leaving him before the night's over, disrupting his sleep in her hurry to gather her clothes or something. he knows she's going, but instead of doing anything he just lays there and lets her leave.

{ i’m having trouble breathing you’re sitting on my chest i sure could use the rest leave me } he's falling in love with her, which isn't good because she's still someone else's lover. he can't handle the thought, and wants to rest instead of having to put up with her and the guilt every night. wishes she would leave because he can't. { it’s you why’s it always you and never me? } he's complaining about how her boyfriend/whomever always gets her in the end, while she just disappears after too-short nights and it's never him who has her heart.

{ i've never dared to let my feelings free } how he's never said "i love you" because she might just leave him, or something.

{ ... i’ve never cared too much about honesty } he doesn't care about the lying and cheating she does, i guess.

{ i'm having trouble sleeping i’m thinking of what you said about the tears been shed leave me } they might have had a fight or something, and he lashed out.

{ it’s you now and always you but never me ... } he's ended it with the girl, maybe, and now it's always her lover who'll have her, without him being in the way.

(i have another interpretation, where his lover got into an accident and died after an argument. he blames himself and keeps having nightmares where she dies in them, but it's never him in her place.)

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
