I woke up with this song in my head this morning
I woke up with this song in my head this morning
I was dreaming about your record collection
And all of our scratched affection
I woke up with this song in my head this morning

With no singing
There's no swinging too
There's no dancing
There's no missing you

I woke and put your record on this morning
I woke and put your record on this morning
So when the oven's hot, I'm going to melt the plastic
Into an ashtray or candy basket
I woke up and put your record on this morning

With no singing
There's no swinging too
There's no dancing
There's no missing you

When you go
Will you glow
On and on and on and on?
When you go
Will you glow
On and on and on and on
On and on and on and on
On and on and on and on
On and on and on and on
On and on and on and on?

I woke up with this song in my head this morning
I woke up with this song in my head this morning
It made my headache
It was that great
But now it's gone, and life is wonderful
You made my headache
You were that great
But now you're gone, and life is wonderful

With no singing
There's no swinging too
There's no dancing
There's no missing you

There's no screaming
There's no listening too
There's no scheming
There's no missing you
No missing you

Emo is a sub-genre of punk. Is Bright Eyes punk? Nope, it suuuure isn't. Conor Oberst writes emotional lyrics, but it isn't at all like emo music. The style is totally different. And if you compare it to emo, the lyrics aren't really like emo. I'd say Bright Eyes is more just the simplest definition of a song with lyrics: poetry put to music. Beautiful words and beautiful sound. It can't be classified, because there really isn't anything out there that is very similar to it, and other things like it can't be classified. If there isn't a name for it, I say we pool our thoughts and invent one. Oh and by the way...screenwrite, don't let it piss you off so bad when people mis-genre music. They don't know. But if they're just idiots who don't know....well then go and hate them. Or, as in your example, those who call Good Charlotte punk. Those people are dumbasses too.....heeheehee.

i've heard people call bright eyes emo. bands like dashboard and juliana theory are emo, bright eyes is not. i've also heard people call it folk, indie, or country. and digital ash doesn't sound like any of the above.

i usually refer to bright eyes as indie, but i don't think it matters. i don't understand why people care.

TO ME, this song is about leaving somebody who you used to love and care about and see every single day. and then you suddenly stop talking to them/seeing them for a pretty long time. and you realize that you really can live without them. and for some reason, you don't miss them at all. and life is beautiful.

i'm sure it's not what the song really means though, it's just what it means to me :)

this song makes me want to sing and cry and dance with happiness. so beautiful, and for someone as jaded as conor (something many people like myself relate to), its so promising to see that there can be hope too.

    yesss. i love this song.

scarletdawn, you said that perfectly. Bright Eyes cannot be classified into a genre. End of story. There's nothing like it, and there never will be. Conor has something that no other artists can grasp, because he is so far beyond everyone and everything else. So many bands have tried to capture "this", but they can't, because they lack the honesty, originaity, and pure talent that comes to Conor so easily.

This song is beautiful. All of his songs are so amazing. When he raises his voice in this song it gives me goosebumps. Amazing...That's all I have to say.

An amazing cover of The Bruces' original song!

A recollection of a lost love without the bitterness usual to most of conor's (or most emo artists') songs.

No doubt. Bright Eyes is not "Emo". Think Rites of Spring for "emo". Ugh, I hate when people get band genres wrong - its like calling Good Charlotte punk. Ahahhahaha.

I don't get it... "So when the ovens hot I'm gunna melt the plastic into an ashtray or candy basket..." <<umm, implifying sex? or no? And if Conor isn't emo, what is he?

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
