"Baby" as written by Kemar Mcgregor, Paul Crossdale, Stephan Warren and Glen Washington....
Baby, it's all right
Stop your crying

Nothing is here to stay
Everything has to begin and end
A ship in a bottle won't sail
All we can do is dream that the wind will blow us across the water
A ship in a bottle set sail

Baby, it's alright
Stop your crying, now

There was a weakling man
Who dreamed he was strong as a hurricane
A ship in a bottle set sail
He took a deep breath and blew across the world
He watched everything crumble
Woke up a weakling again

Some might tell you there's no hope in hand
Just because they feel hopeless
But you don't have to be a thing like that
You be a ship in a bottle set sail

Baby, it's all right
Stop your crying, now
It's all right
So stop your crying, now
Be a ship in a bottle set sail

General CommentA very hopeful song. Dave considers this one a nursery rhyme. Just listen and enjoy this one!

General CommentMy fave song from Some Devil! This song offers so much hope...Even a ship in a bottle can find a way to set sail, even if it's just through a dream or someone else's actions.

General CommentA great song about being determined with your dreams. Lately, I've been considering joing the Peace Corps. All I know is that I want to change the world for the better, in one way or another. However, I have a lot of skeptic people in my town. One of my teachers warned me that if my plans fail, I'll be left with no way to spend my life. This song actually helped to keep me sticking to my dreams. This song is beautiful, and Dave Matthews is a genius.

General CommentLike Butterfly, this song sounds like a lullaby and is 1 of my faves from Some Devil also. Dave puts such emotion into his songs but this 1 is particularly beautiful.

General CommentI see this song as a song about living out your dreams. Nothing will happen if you just live life. You will float on like a "ship in a bottle". But it's your dreams that make it set sail. Sometimes, you realize that some dreams can't be accomplished like the weakling man. But having faith will help in life.

General CommentI don't know the exact quote, but Jimmy Buffett once said something along the lines of "If you don't write at least one song about your daughter, you WILL go to hell." (in regards to "Little Miss Magic")

General CommentThis reminds me of the Ben Folds song 'Still Fighting It' which he wrote to his son. They both seem to be about the fact that life can suck but its all part of the greater experience that life offers. Without the suffering we experience in life we wont be able to enjoy when we get to be on top of the world. Always have hope.
