With a lack of self esteem
I walked into my teens
And six years later
I'm still frustrated
I'm still not who I want to be
And now it all comes down to
Am I treating her right?
And now it all comes down to
Am I treating her right?
Am I treating her right?

If I could just be
All that I can be for her
That's when I'd be the man I long to be
I hate this cycle
It's a neverending story
Of infinite last chances

And now it all comes down to
Am I treating you right?
And now it all comes down to
Am I treating you right?
Am I treating you right?
Yeah, yeah

I keep telling myself
Just grow up
But it's so easy to say
And so much harder to do
I hear it each and every day
Just grow up
It's the only thing left to do

It's time to kill this
There's no two ways about it
Ends today right here right now
But it's time I learn that
It's not a matter
Of saying the right words
Or singing the right songs

I keep telling myself
Just grow up
But it's so easy to say
And so much harder to do
I hear it each and every day
Just grow up
It's the only thing left to do

It's so old but it's not easy
To say goodbye to all this heartache
To just say no, just run away, endure pain
And suffocate every desire that hurts you

And now it all comes down to
Am I treating you right?
And now it all comes down to this
Am I treating you right?
Am I treating you right?
My words and actions don't align
My heart is the victim of my mind

I keep telling myself
Just grow up
But it's so easy to say
And so much harder to do
I hear it each and every day
Just grow up
It's the only thing left to do

I keep telling myself
Just grow up
But it's so easy to say
And so much harder to do
I hear it each and every day
Just grow up
It's the only thing left to do

'i keep telling myself just grow up but its so easy to say and so much harder to do'

was stuck in my head for days after listening to this song, but my fav. line is: 'my words and actions dont align my heart is the victim of my mind'

I think he doesn't think he's good enough for her. And he wants to make sure he's treating her right, obviously. And it's like he's lost in all of this worry if he's doing everything right, and that's why he's telling himself to grow up, to get out of this worry.

Haha yeah. I don't know if anyone understood that. This song is amazing. This Providence is looove.

He doesn't think he's treating his girlfriend the correct way. He thinks he's treating her as a high school girlfriend still, not an adult one. Hence saying that he needs to grow up so he can mature and treat her right.

Six years later I walked onto my team

is six years ago I found my faith in god I believe

which leads me to believe this whole song is about his experiences with religion

either that or I am reading into it too much and its an easy to relationship song

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
