@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
Aesthetic perfection has fooled me once again.
You'll always be the only one who feels like home.
And with your hollow words and your plastic smile,
You have the most beautiful name I've ever cursed.
Yet I wait for you to find your way into my arms.
And I'd wait here till you find your way,
I would wait here all my life.
I'd spend the rest of my days praying for an end to this mystery.
Through this dichotomy has brought me to my knees,
You'll always be the only one who feels like home.
And yet the season's change and with it does your charm.
Summer's end has come and with it misery.
Yet I wait for you to find your way into my arms.
And I'd wait here till you find your way,
I would wait here all my life.
I'd spend the rest of my days praying for an end to this mystery.
You must find a way, way back in my arms again,
I'd give anything just to feel that warmth again, again.
And I'd wait here till you find your way,
I would wait here all my life.
I'd spend the rest of my days praying for an end to this mystery.
An end to this mystery, an end to this mystery.

And I'd wait here till you find your way,

I'd spend the rest of my days praying for an end to this mystery.
An end to this mystery, an end to this mystery.

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

While the obvious connections with suicide or alcoholism could be drawn easily, more subtly this song could be about someone who views the world through a negative lens constantly and how as much as the writer tries to show the beauty in the world, this person refuses to see it. It's one or another between the rope and the bottle. There is no good option for this person. They can't see it. Skiba sings it in a kind of exasperated way like He's tired of hearing this negative view constantly and just allowing that person to continue feeling the way they feel knowing he can't do anything about it. You can hear it when he says maybe you're a vampire.
["Aesthetic perfection has fooled me once again."] He is drawn in by her looks, which normally turns out to be a bad idea, but she has come to mean everything to him. And as empty as she seems, he still longs for her, ["Yet I wait for you to find your way into my arms."] He continues to be torn between knowing that she is fake, cold, and empty and the fact that he needs her, ["Though this dichotomy has brought me to my knees,"] he continues to want her back ["you'll always be the only one who feels like home"].
This song is a very good song. Its smooth and metally...its like soft hardcore...haha...not really but you get the picture. GOOD SONG!
"your aesthetic perfection has fooled me once again" aesthetic means for show/looks, perfection well, we all know what that means. I think this line is about how she was so perfect, but it was all for show.
i agree with boothx. it's just about my favorite song right now. "And with your hollow words and your plastic smile, You have to most beautiful name I've ever cursed" my favorite line
i partially disagree with boothx, i feel this song isnt about someone not feeling the same, its about the guy wanting his girlfriend back, hence dichotomy which means seperation, so obviously they had something at a point
The best fukken song ever. I just can't realize, why it dies today is not very poopular:(
