Yeah-yeah, oh-oh, yeah
I've got it all, but I feel so deprived
I go up, I come down and I'm emptier inside
Tell me what is this thing that I feel like I'm missing
And why can't I let go

There's gotta be more to life
Than chasing down every temporary high to satisfy me
'Cause the more that I'm
Tripping out thinking there must be more to life
Well it's life, but I'm sure, there's gotta be more
Than wanting more

I've got the time and I'm wasting it slowly
Here in this moment I'm half way out the door
Onto the next thing, I'm searching for something that's missing

There's gotta be more to life
Than chasing down every temporary high to satisfy me
'Cause the more that I'm
Tripping out thinking there must be more to life
Well it's life, but I'm sure, there's gotta be more
I'm wanting more, oh oh yeah

I'm always waiting on something other than this
Why am I feelin' like there's something I missed? (Something I missed) Yeah

There's gotta be more to life
Than chasing down every temporary high to satisfy me
'Cause the more that I'm (more that I'm)
Tripping out thinking there must be more to life
Well it's life, but I'm sure (ooh, yeah)

There's gotta be more to life
Than chasing down every temporary high to satisfy me (oh, yeah)
'Cause the more that I'm
Tripping out thinking there must be more to life
Well it's life, but I'm sure
(There's gotta be more to life) Oh
(More) More to (to), more to, (life) more to life
(There's gotta be more to life) More to, more to life
(More) More to (to), more to life, there's gotte be more
(There's gotta be more to life)
More to life

the lyrical content of this song is crap. It was really popular in Australia... wonder why no-one commented on it?

^ ? It's not supposed to be a work of profound lyrical genious. Many of the songs on the radio these days arent..... The MEANING is the fact that we all come to realize one day that there must be another reason for life. It's not as simple as a 9-5 or finding a soulmate.

Well that was exactly the way I felt right before I became a christian...I had been asking myself for quite a while, there has to be more than this? is this truly what life is?? and then I found Jesus Christ! and that's when I found the meaning to what life is supposed to be.

    blessings to all!

well i was talking with my friend about this song once and we both had about the same view on one possible meaning and we both thought it had to deal with drugs. It just made a lot of sence because of the refrence to chasing that temporary high, and at the beging she talking about going up and coming back down and feeling emptier inside. well thats what we thought!

I've always loved this song and the video. I've always thought it meant that no matter what you do, no matter what condition, You're just never content. And as humans, well, we really are never content. When we get something, we want more, and more of it. And even though we have quite a lot, we still are never content. And when we're never content, it just makes us depressed and sad even though we have quite a lot.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
