Eeh dah eeh dah
Ooooh, ooooh, ooooh
Scandal - now you've left me all the world's gonna know
Hey scandal, they're gonna turn our lives into a freak show
They'll see the heart-ache, they'll see our love break
They'll hear me pleading, we'll say for God's sakes
Over and over and over again
Scandal - now you've left me there's no healing the wounds
Hey scandal, and all the world can make us out to be fools
Here come the bad news, open the floodgates (oooh oooh)
They'll leave us bleeding, we say you cheapskates
(Oooh oooh)
Over and over and over again
So let them know when they stare, it's just a private affair
They'll have us hung in the air and tell me what do they care
It's only a life to be twisted and broken
They'll see the heart-ache, they'll see our love break - yeah
They'll hear me pleading, I'll say for God's sakes
Over and over and over and over again - yeah

Scandal, scandal
Scandal, scandal

Yes you're breaking my heart again
Scandal - yes it'll all and all happen again
Today the headlines, tomorrow hard times
And no-one ever really knows the truth from the lies
And in the end the story deeper must hide (oooh)
Deeper and deeper and deeper inside
Scandal, scandal
Scandal, scandal

This song was writtn in 1989, a time when freddie knew he had AIDS. Even though he had the illness, this didnt stop him recording some of the best music ever. And by this time there was alot of press covarage on queen, alot of it bad. This song was written about how bad the press and the news can damage someones life and the effect it has on them and their family. This is represented in lines such as Here come the bad news, open the floodgates They'll leave us bleeding, we say you cheapskates Over and over and over again It's a very seriouse , dark and dramatic song about the life inside the world of fame. It's not the sort of queen song you would play in a party but a queen song you could listen and respect what their saying in the lyrics.

this song rocks, seriously and right now i relate it to my situation. according to everyone "its a scandal" this song really is spot on. my favourite lines being "And no-one ever really knows the truth from the lies And in the end the story deeper must hide (oooh) " so true! i agree with musicxexplorer, you can really respect their lyrics in this deep serious song.

It's about the press and how they spread shit about people and the public believe it because they can never actually be sure that what the press are saying is a lie or not. Am I making sense?

this song is awesome and freddie really puts his all into it. On the Greatest video hits II commentary Roger states that he doesn't like this song and I think Brian does like it he just didn't want to disagree with Roger. Roger also stated he doesn't like The Miracle which I think is kind of strange because Scandal and The Miracle are great songs.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
