@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

This song is EXACTLY what i'm going through.. This is how I see the song.
You are with someone who DOES cares about you, but he or she really doesn't know what she wants, because things in her life (Whether it means someone else or other things) are either not letting her, or conflicting with what she wants. For example, an ex love in this situation.. Not letting go when they need to to move on.
And for those that have been in that situation, when you are so in Love with someone, you can't "Handshake" the rest of your life away.. it gets to a point where it hurts so bad that you aren't with that person and being friends hurts, you have to tell them, it's all or nothing.. It's selfish, but sometimes when the person isn't attempting to work things through, you might have to move on..
Which leaves what Russell was asking.. What that line basically means is the general concept of fighting an already lost battle. If this person isn't fighting to get through what they need to get through to be happy, you can't fight with them.. It's a joint thing..
