Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves
To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He's holding out His hand
But the waves are calling out my name
And they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again. "Boy, you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"
But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says, "Do not be afraid!"
The voice of truth says, "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth
Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
With just a sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand
But the giant's calling out my name
And he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again. "Boy you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"
But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant on the ground
And the waves they don't seem so high
From on top of them lookin' down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth
The kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves
To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He's holding out His hand
But the waves are calling out my name
And they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again. "Boy, you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"
But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says, "Do not be afraid!"
The voice of truth says, "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth
Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
With just a sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand

After the death of my brother, in April of 2006, I heard this song and cried. I heard this song in a new and different light. My brother could not hear the Voice of Truth. Satan's lies and whispers were all that he could hear.
I have come to terms with the fact that my brother is now gone, I pray with the Lord. I often hear this song and remember how real Satan AND GOD really are. Life, and the spiritual, are not a joke.
Satan is out to steal, kill, and destroy - and we need to never hesitate to share the love, mercy, and grace the Lord Jesus has given to us - a free gift so that no man could boast. Let everyone hear...
the Voice of Truth.
The first verse deals with the anxiety of Peter, one of Jesus' 12 disciples, when he was stepping out of the boat during the storm to where Jesus was. The second verse is the story of David and Goliath. I have no clue what the "soar with the wings of eagles" refer to, but I like it. Reminds me of that Greek (Roman?) mythology about the person who makes his own wings but ends up getting too close to the sun and having his wings melt. Except, in this song, the ending is positive. It also reminds me of the verse in Isaiah 40 when it says "They that hope in the LORD will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow tired, they will walk and not be faint."
I used it for encouragemenet for when I was going through college with a new baby, a new marriage and everything seemed impossible. It helped me see through all the "things" that were happening and focus in on whatever happens if I do my part that God will help me rise above everything. "And the waves they don't seem so high
From on top of them lookin' down".
I was able to work through this time and get grades that were better than when I was single and had no baby.
That the fact that some things that we are going through seem impossible like me thinking "I don't know how God is going to work this one out" but it helped me remember that with God he has the perfect answer to our problems and yes he can work out situations that seem overwelming and impossible for us. "But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant on the ground."
