Amoreena Lyrics
Amoreena's in the cornfield brightening the daybreak
Living like a lusty flower, running through the grass for hours
Rolling through the hay like a puppy child
Washing out the cattle town
And she's far away somewhere in her eiderdown
And she dreams of crystal streams
Of days gone by when we would lean
Laughing fit to burst upon each other
The fruit juice flowing slowly, slowly, slowly
Down the bronze of your body
Living like a lusty flower, running through the grass for hours
Rolling through the hay like a puppy child
My arms around your shoulders the windows wide and open
While the swallow and the sycamore are playing in the valley
Oh I miss you Amoreena like a king bee misses honey
Amoreena's in the cornfield brightening the daybreak
Living like a lusty flower, running through the grass for hours
Rolling through the hay like a puppy child

I love this song my mom and dad named me after this song....

Amoreena takes me along long straight dusty roads lined with telegraph poles to a windswept small town somewhere in middle America, It's 1970 and I'm lost, between jobs, hopeful. But I can't seem to settle down. And there's Amoreena, the girl I left behind several dry summer towns ago, I can still see her sitting in the kitchen. We used to talk and roll and hang together as the days ran away, until time came that I just moved on - cause that what I had to do.
Oh I miss you Amoreena.
bernie taupin was really preoccupied with the romanticized image of the old west in america. (the beatles demonstrated similar inspiration for some of their music.) "Amoreena" is simply a poem set to elton's gorgeous arrangement that paints a picture of a cowboy perhaps, longing for the woman he's in love with. there's a healthy dose of - tasteful - double entendre: "Oh if only I could nestle in the cradle of your cabin/My arms around your shoulders the windows wide and open." everytime i hear that song i can see the apple juice dripping down that raven-haired, tanned body and...

I love this, it's on the beginning of Dog Day Afternoon. It took me ages to realise the title and artist, though. Anyway, I think this is about lusting after a long lost female acquaintance. I know the name 'Amoreena' must have some connotations of love.
And when it rain the rain comes down....
And when it rain the rain comes down....
Compare Travis Bickle's line about one day a real rain will come down and wash everything clean, or something to that effect.

amazing tune

This beautiful, tearful masterpiece is about a young man who years for his distant loved one, Amoreena. Thinking about all the memories he had with her. I named an original character after this song.
