Goodbye 1989 I wanna be the one in control
Rock my white shoes polo tie
The next big thing for 5 years running

It's not your turn
It's not your turn....yet

Back off you little shit
Gnawing at my fists
I see they breed you by the boatload

Back off you little whores
Get em all onboard
And let me beat you to the fucking punch bowl

My body's not even cold
My act is just getting old

Goodbye 1989 I wanna be the one in control
Rock my white shoes polo tie
The next big thing for 5 years running

It's not your turn
It's not your turn....yet

Back off you little shit
Gnawing at my fists
I see they breed you by the boatload

Back off you little whores
Get em all onboard
And let me beat you to the fucking punch bowl

My body's not even cold
My act is just getting old

Some wanna get down like this
We hate what we like

Some wanna get down like this
We hate what we like

Back off you little shit
Gnawing at my fists
I see they breed you by the boatload

Back off you little whores
Get em all onboard
And let me beat you to the fucking punch bowl

My body's not even cold
My act is just getting old

I doubt it's about anything like that, Jimmy said there'll never be any politics in the songs, since he hates politics.

Rock my white shoes polo tie The next big thing for 5 years running---talking of themselves.

It's not your turn It's not your turn....yet---directed to pretentious bands. Its not your turn to make it big yet.

Back off you little shit Gnawing at my fists "I see they breed you by the boatload"---they=record companys

My body's not even cold My act is just getting old---he says body but maybe hes speaking of the same old cold hearted , unable to feel anything but pain" lyrics most bands sing about, including the "real" ones, i know. This is what i got from this part.

I agree with A Child Forever, this song is about the young artists who are born around 1989, and how much MSI hates them. He's saying that it's not their turn to be famous yet cuz Jimmy hasn't had his 15 minutes yet, and that he isn't dead, but he might as well be cuz he'll never be popular, even though MSI is way better than those young singers

    my 2cents:

i always thought this song was aimed towards the little 13 year old fans who have only heard 'bitches, shutmeup, faggot, and straight to video' he just uses 1989 as a general year of these kinds of people being born. not to say there arnt real supporters born after then.

"Goodbye 1989 I wanna be the one in control Rock my white shoes polo tie The next big thing for 5 years running"

Like everyone else said, just stating themselves.

"It's not your turn It's not your turn....yet"

these little kids jump on the bandwagon and act like MSI is their band. when their actually really late. its not thier turn. msi isnt for their generation.

"Back off you little shit Gnawing at my fists I see they breed you by the boatload

Back off you little whores Get em all onboard And let me beat you to the fucking punch bowl"

telling these people to get off his dick. he doesnt want nor need them as fans. and to all the little 'omfg i fkn

I agree with molly was a good girl. IM pretty sure its about all hte followers at the time the album was released the fan's were to young, and he could fuck them because they were to young. Also from this album it sounds like they are going more towards lyrics that are making fun of these ppl. The hipsters or emo kids because he HATES THEM, and how they just follow and never lead. look at the song you'll rebel to anything, has the same feel. The moral of the story is if you are 16 or under dont try to sleep with the band becuase they dont want to go to jail for that reason because the inmates dont like rapists or pedophiles.

Well, 1989 was the year Nicolae Ceausescu, Romanian dictator, was taken out of power and killed. It was also the year the Berlin wall came down. Maybe there's a connection between those events and this song.

"Goodbye 1989 I wanna be the one in control." ?!? See what I mean?

Or maybe it's about a man retiring? Meh, I don't know.

i have no idea what this song is about, but i doubt it has any real meaning. i just thought that the lyrics "my body's not even cold. my act is just getting old" was pretty clever. im not dead, my music just sucks.

    Pubert- Haha, I agree.

They seem to have changed in between Frankenstein Girls.. and You'll Rebel To Anything. It makes me somewhat sad..

This song is very obviously talking through George Bush Seniors perspective, he did come into power for 4 years in 1989

Back off you little shit Gnawing at my fists I see they breed you by the boatload

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
