We all need to feel safe
Then that's taken away
Sometimes I want to return
Return to before
The trouble began
That time of no fear

By showing you I'm
Sensitive
You do risk
Being crucified
Crucified by
Those you are unlike

My feelings are hurt so easily
That is the price that I I pay
The price that I do pay
To appreciate
The beauty they're killing
The beauty they're busy killing

If the sun going down
Can make me cry
Why should I
Why should I
Why should I not
Like the way I am?

My feelings are hurt so easily
That is the price that I I pay
The price that I do pay
To appreciate
The beauty they're killing
The beauty they're busy killing
Killing
Killing
Killing

"We all need to feel safe then that's taken away sometimes I want to return return to before the trouble began that time of no fear" I think this is about wanting to return to childhood when things were fairly easy and they didn't have to deal with deep, painful feelings. When you reach adolescence the safety is taken away and you have to figure out life for yourself, sometimes not liking what you find.

"By showing you I'm sensitive you do risk being crucified crucified by those you are unlike" Rather than being about literally being sensitive. I think it's more about the world being divided essentially into 2 kinds of people. People who think about their life, feel the pain and the beauty of it with a primacy and passion. And people who just go along with their life, without questioning it, and are how they are. It tends to be the case, especially in adolescents, that the more "sensitive" people are ridiculed and "crucified" by the nastier of the others. He is saying that if he is more open with his friend about his way of thinking, they will be mocked by the thoughtless, offensive beings he fears.

These beings are the "they" described in the chorus.

it's about being open about being a sensitive person; being able to freely admit crying at sunsets etc even though you're likely to get 'crucified' by those you don't like

I love this song. It's witty and emotional like all the best songs released on Sarah Records.

This is the song I want to have played when she and I are finally allowed to be together forever. After we defy the world and do it our way. When nobody can prevent us any longer, when it's just the two of us.

Still love you Angel more than everything else in the world put together.

    Forever.

Even though the lyrics are correct here as posted...

By showing you I'm Sensitive You do risk Being crucified Crucified by Those you are unlike

....I'm sure that part is meant to say:

By showing you I'm Sensitive I do risk Being crucified Crucified by Those I am unlike

Anyway, I used to think this was a relatively simple song about just being different and literally more sensitive than most people, but ever since I discovered how sinister this world actually is compared to how it was before dark forces took control, I now believe it transcends ages and "that time of no fear before the trouble began" covers a past life or past lives when humanity lived in peace and harmony, so unlike how things are now.

And it always really got to me the way he says "the price that I do pay to appreciate the beauty they're killing, the beauty they're busy killing..." but it's now taken on so much more meaning after realizing just how much this dark world really is all about killing off anything and everything that's good and innocent, and instead encouraging and bringing out the worst tendencies and ugliness in people and things.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
