The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup,
They slither while they pass, they slip away across the Universe.
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy,
Are drifting through my open mind,
Possessing and caressing me.
Jai Guru Deva Om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world.
Images of broken light which dance before me
Like a million eyes,
They call me on and on across the universe,
Thoughts meander like a restless wind
Inside a letterbox
They tumble blindly as they make their way across the Universe
Jai Guru Deva Om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world.
Sounds of laughter shades of earth are
Ringing through my open ears exciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a Million suns
It calls me on and on across the universe
Jai Guru Deva Om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world.
Sounds of laughter shades of earth are
Ringing through my open ears exciting and inviting me
Jai Guru Deva Om

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
Damn, i didn't know Cyndi Lauper covered this song...
Cyndi Lauper didn't ever record this song! I suppose whoever put this song here listened to the version by FIONA APPLE and thought it was Cyndi Lauper.
Actually Cyndi DID cover this song. It's a beautiful version.
